Holy shite. I worked for the company that did the landscaping on this house. It is something. The retaining wall behind the pool (we didn't build it) fell not long after it was built.

I'm surprised the mansion isn't getting a boost from being Jordan's house.
That’s the problem with it. From the time you drive through the gates you are well aware that it’s his house. It is 100 percent customized to MJ. The people with the type of money to afford a house like that typically don’t give a damn about MJ one way or another and are quickly turned off by his essence being imprinted all over the property.

Man, Suwanee is right on the front line of the reconquista. There's a fricking H-Mart like 4 minutes from that house

It’s for “entertaining” they also have pools, outdoor kitchens, etc

I've never understood the appeal of gargantuan houses. Paying for location makes sense, but anything over 4000sqft seems excessive.
I can understand it if you have kids plus you want extras like a wine cellar, bar/lounge type room, game room, office, etc., but I don’t understand the massive ones with a ton of regular arse bedrooms. It’s like what are you, a hotel?

A house near me just sold for about 2 mill and it's 5k square feet and only 3 bedrooms.

Honestly that would be me if I could build a fancy home.

That said, a lot of people's niche rooms could easily be bedrooms when you go to sell. A couple of ours certainly could.

This reminds me of the HGTV renovation/actualization of the Brady bunch house. They sank like 5 million into making the house match the set from the TV show including adding an entire second floor and Greg's attic.
Then after the TV special it just sat on the market until some woman finally bought it for like 1.5m

She said it was a terrible investment; none of those appliances actually work or plug in and she turned it into a tour house to make money.

Blows my mind when people build crazy customized mansions in weird locations only to sell it within a decade. The only way it makes sense is if you plan on living there a long time. If it's not a growing area then it's not going to sell.Michael Jordan's Chicago mansion is a great example of a bad investment.
What about Dwayne Wade's 8000sft mansion in the near south suburbs of Chicago that was selling for like 300k a few years ago after a decade of vacancy? He built it in an area not known for mansions and his ex got it in the divorce. What a knucklehead...

I'm loving my 2.75% rate and my house has went up in value since purchase. I can only think it will continue to go up if they drop interest rates next year.

Sounds like the ex got screwed, not Wade...

I'd prefer a modest sized house that suits my needs and lots of prime land.

Did you look at the photos? It is in a horrible location, and everything inside is just absolutely gaudy. There's a reason these types of houses take forever to sell - the buyer will have to spend millions removing all the tacky fixtures.
