Excuse me for being a stickler, but he is only eligible for an Honorary Darwin Award, since he has children (i.e. procreated). To truly be a Darwin Award winner, one must die during something really stupid, and the death strengthens the gene pool because they did not procreate.

i'm a little in this camp. While dumb, he wasn't being a dumbass.

Darwin Awards used to be for people that broke into a house and died stuck in the attic or things like that.

More of an unfortunate turn of events for an attempted albeit, failed, good samaritan.

Stupid as hell. You’re a father and you get killed trying to play Frogger with some ducks. He definitely didn’t look both ways before crossing the street

I help turtles cross all the time

I do, too, but I tell my kids that I won't do it on a busy road. I'm not dying for a turtle, nor am I going to jail for causing an accident.

There was a huge snapper just this week that I wouldn't stop for, but felt SURELY one that big, people would try to avoid. Came back by not 30 minutes later, and it had been killed.

There's a wetland with a road thru it that we drive over several times a day that is loaded with turtles... so they are ALWAYS crossing the road, but it is 2 lanes with rails, and it just isn't safe at all to be out of vehicle.

He’s already bested Darwin. Award application revoked.

I made a uturn to help a turtle one rainy night. Not a country road. By the time I got to it, it was squished. Felt terrible.

Was driving behind a couple of hot chicas, who suddenly stopped and got out of their car to help a gigantic turtle across they road. When the girl picked it up, that thing pissed a stream through the air a mile long.

His kids are fatherless because of his stupid decision. I say it’s worse than any Darwin Award.
