I don't know if it makes a difference, but both were shot with one dying and the other was in critical condition. I don't see how long he was hospitalized or when he got released. But he might be permanently disabled or limited in some way. Maybe his injuries factored into the decision..

Don’t get me wrong, if I’m the dad I would try and kick that kids arse and or shot him. I’d probably get shot also.

So if a 17 having relations with a 14 year old is legal and she invited him in, he wasn’t breaking and entering and not committing a crime. Dad probably thought it was an intruder and pulled on kid.
