Anyone have a guess of when Swartz area of Monroe starts draining? Has not dropped any in the last 48 hours..

Anyone hearing reports of houses burning in Strawberry Fields subdivision in Ponchatoula?
I haven't heard anything about this.

Does anyone have any first hand information on the flooding in Old Landing area of Covington? I heard there was a house on Bennett with 4' or 5' of water in it yesterday morning. I hope that was inaccurate...
Specifically, I'm concerned about a house on Riverbend Dr., about a 1/4 mile south of Bennett.

If you don't know the structure's mean elevation above sea level, you can find it on-line. Then you can compare that number with the flood report for that area. I have seen official releases of info on specific La. areas with specific warnings like "if your home is less than 14 feet mean level above sea level, you will flood." But that's just an example. I hope that you are able to get this info and that things go well for you.

Thanks for your suggestion. The house didn't in Katrina or Issac, but this thing has been a different animal.

Amite riv er has crested a good 4' lower than predicted in Denham Springs. Good news. But, how can they miss a forecasted crest by that much?
They didn't get the additional rain that was forecasted for the surrounding area. That helps/hurts the predicted crest.

There probably won't be widespread heavy rain but there is an outside chance that N. Louisiana could see some bad weather late this afternoon

Looks like the water down Joe White from black bayou hasn't risen since last night. I can't really tell if it's gone down any - if it has, its been extremely slow and just a very small amount

All the drama now is at West Elmwood and the pump / new levee at Forsythe Extension.

Does it look like Florida is getting a quiff

Pumps in Monroe work only were during drought. And since thats been most of the time in recent years, the mayor thinks "thats a good record".
If they remember to turn them on, that is.

Not in strawberry fields. I think in twin rivers or something.
Water hit electrical outlets, fire started and hit gas line. Boom.

Environmentalist movement was an excellent way to deindustrialize the country and make those that one had employment in those industries dependent on the government for survival.

Not at my buddy's house. It was lower than Isaac on the Mandeville/Madisonville line

My bro-in-law lives in Head Of Island on old river road and says water is rising in the whole area. He went out this morning to get supplies but they said that's it if you stay you ride it out... His house is way off the ground but his garage is pretty low... Anyone with a camp in that area may want to get it checked if you can...Its not the rain. Its the water is flowing downstream and there is nowhere else for it to go....

That would be the houses that weren't covered by flood insurance... Remember Katrina ??

It doesn't surprise me that there is such a difference in river gage measurements between this flood, Isaac, Katrina, etc. it depends on where the gage is and where the water is coming from. Wind driven lake water or rainfall caused river flooding.
My previous residence in Madisonville got just under 5' of water for Isaac. My ex-neighbors got less than an inch this time, and it happened Thursday evening, before the heaviest rain in this event. Their water was falling Friday morning, as mine was rapidly coming up outside of Folsom.
