The weather should stay dryish for most of LA until this evening/tonight.

Furthest south it is closed right now that I know about is Logtown - just between Columbia and Monroe

I heard from someone who did it this morning that 171 south from Shreveport is open and you can take it to Stonewall. You can cut back over to I-49 from there.
The DOT traveler info site agrees with that. It shows some exit ramps off of I-49 closed but the highway itself appears to be open except for that section north of Stonewall.

She is a hero - a comedic hero. That's the hardest I've laughed this week.

I think the trouble spots from earlier in that area are mostly drained off. Where I-49 is closed between there and Bert Kouns is due to Wallace Lake being flooded out over the road. Wallace is supposed to crest today I think so maybe by early next week the road could be re-opened.

Parish President Robby Miller says the Tangipahoa River at Robert is expected to crest at 22 feet on Saturday. The river at Kentwood is expected to crest at 14.5 feet. People can call 911 or the sheriff's office if they need rescue. The shelter at the Natalbany Elementary School is ful. Nesom School, Loranger High School, the Ponchatoula Community Center and several churches are taking in people who need shelter. Miller said the Hammond airport recorded 19.9 inches of rain overnight.

Daytime heating could spark some more rain, but the morning model runs I've seen suggest the epic flooding rain will likely be a little more to the east.
So off and on showers, maybe an 1" of rain is my speculation.
Subsidence behind the overnight storms should keep S. Louisiana mostly dry today. It looks like the worst of the heavy rain could be over.

I was told it wasn't officially closed but saw photos and it needs to be. Looks horrible.

Good.

Comite and Amite Rivers crests are likely to be near the 83 and 93 marks. Sadly the homes flooded last night and today won't be last. This weekend will get interesting

That has to be wrong. That may be the rain in 24 hours or more, but no way that was just overnight.

If even remotely close to being accurate that would smash the 2-day rainfall record of 11.79". Records go back to 1892.

Where did you get that statement from Robby Miller?
Posted on 3/11/16 at 10:02 am to cgrand
The crest in Robert looks to be accurate, but the crest near Amite and Kentwood are going to be much higher considering the current pace it is rising.

As you said earlier, those numbers are super impressive considering how many tropical systems have gone through the area since 1892.
