When can we expect another round of storms in the Hammond area? It's just barely sprinkling right now. We left our house at 6am and are staying in independence for now. Hopefully it can drain before it comes down again.

looks like in the next hour or 2 we will get some more but looks not to be bad. But at this point any rain could be disasterous. That freaking south wind the last 3 to 4 days has set all of this up.

Good luck man, let me know if you need me to ride over there to check on your place. I'm headed home from Nola right now to check on my place. I should be ok, but my parents said it's worse than they've ever seen.

Just got an update from my aunt that lives on the river. They are expecting 5 ft on the slab under the house. They are picking up under it now.

Look at this gentrified mfer right here...

A chainsaw and a tractor later and sumbitchin road is clear. Nobody got hurt, city boy.

Quick update from Monroe:

Parts of Frenchman's are in trouble this morning

Pump on Forsythe extension has stopped running

West Elmwood is being saved by sandbags / plywood levee built by citizens

If rain does not stop in next 2-3 hours, 165 from Forsythe extension to West Elmwood will have some problems.

Need a cut in levee behind MAC to relive Forsythe extension / Cuba/ Deborah, etc. problem is River is rising so fast...

I have about a half foot left on my levee then I will flood. Main house should be fine - It is on high point on bayou - unless drainage clogs up.

Phillips bayou is at a least a 50 year high....elevated homes in Belle Point are still dry

Thanks to the shitty drainage system at my apartment complex, my whole building got about an inch of water this morning.

funny story

During Gustav I went to Lee's Landing with a friend looking for his Dad who lives at the landing. We had to park before the church on LL road and walk in. It was waist deep at the barroom at the landing. We get down there and freaking crazy arse Shelby is running is jet boat up and down the river during the storm

Not to be sarcastic Kill but I am surprised they thought to even turn on the pumps, given their history, and as I predicted earlier, if they thought about it, it was a 50/50 chance half of them would not work. Just Monroe's history repeating.

Oh my goodness, looks like we just missed the worst of it in Madisonville. Hammond looks bad.

I see where I-49 is closed south of Shreveport.... Anyone have any ideas how long that will take to drain once the rains stop? I have to come back from Dallas to BR tomorrow. Will have to decide if I should take the long way through Beaumont like I did coming here
