John Wayne is not Los Angeles airport. It's a suburban airport and hour from LA. The OP title is misleading.

Unincorporated Orange County, but Irvine borders the terminal side. Costa Mesa and Newport Beach also border the airport.

Located him in a ceiling. Wow.
I was at MSY two weeks ago and some lady (upset over missing her flight) tried to open an alarmed door that went out onto the runway. Because she could see the plane sitting just off of the jetway. I guess she thought she could climb up in it or they would let her on?
I yelled at her the second she put her hand on the push bar to open the door. If she had set that alarm off, they would have shut down the airport and made us all clear the terminal and go back through TSA. I really don't know what gets into people at airports.
