Great whites are designed for cooler waters. In fact they have a rather unique circulatory system that allows them to keep blood temps up in cold water. The thing is Maine doesn’t have a large seal/sea lion population so not much real food for great whites up that way.

Such sharks can be found in local waters on the lookout for seals, which are common off the coast of Maine.
