Maids are too expensive in the US

For any baws that have lived in countries like India, Thailand, Philippines, etc. a maid who practically lives with you costs like $300 a month. She cooks for you, cleans for you, irons your shirts. Hell, you could probably get a French maid for an extra $100/mo.
Why can you not get maids that cheap in the US? Something to do with labor laws or something? We could really put all these illegals (or at least the younger, cute ones) to work.

Our cleaners at our overseas homes are dirt cheap. Like $100 for 3k+ sqft cheap

Have had the illegal for cheap maid before. They clean fine, but I didn’t like it and always was worried they would rob me blind.
We clean our own house now to save money, but if we do end up getting another we will likely get a service with legal workers.
