Omni magazine. Covered science, and far out topics often associated with the paranormal along with sci fi stories. It was developed by Bob Guccione of Penthouse magazine. As a young lad that was into those topics I thought it was really cool. And the covers were pretty trippy..and totally 80's

We would get Read's Digest, TV Guide, and Beckett (for my baseball card collecting hobby). I'd typically be gifted a one year subscription each Christmas.

Depending on your definition of a young'un, I've subscribed to Car and Driver magazine since 1976. If the Lord lets me make it that long, I'll hit 50 years next May.

Dynamite and Bananas ( spinoff of Dynamite aimed at teens) I remember all the Dynamite Covers posted above

We didn't get TV Guide. The newspaper had a weekly TV section that we saved. I always found it easier to use than the TV Guide I saw at other folks' houses.
The high school librarian would set aside new issues of the magazines that she knew I liked. I got first crack at Outdoor Life, Field and Stream, and a couple of motorcycle magazines.

jackpot when we found a James Bond movie was airing on ABC in 2 thursdays at 8pm.
the only time my parents would let me stay up until 10pm on a school night because i was so excited that i would talk about it every day until it aired.
i just had to get all my homework done, showered and brushed teeth. then i could watch JB uninterrupted (except for the fact it was butchered and 100 commericals). it was still utopia for me. i can still hear my brother yelling at me down the hall "HURRY AND FINISH PEEING! ITS BACK ON!!!"
