You could literally ask any city that usually benefit from Canadians visiting every year as well. They are legit scared of being detained when crossing the border.
ICE isn’t rounding up tourists. This is fear mongering.

Attacks… What a dumb thing to say.
Dumb arse should welcome all forms of law enforcement into New Orleans to keep tourists safe instead of just feeding them to the locals.

LINK
A simple Google search tells you that they are. But nah keep repeating the “worst of the worst” lie
Using your links without looking for corrections or updates which often occurred with these stories pushed by Dems.
1st link included a Canadian actress entering thru Mexico. The article states in the past she would have been put on a flight to Canada instead of detaining (but still refused entry as she had work visa issues)
quote:
Legally, immigration officers couldn't send her back to Mexico, because she's a Canadian citizen. But in years past, agents might have escorted her to the San Diego airport and put her on a one-way flight to Vancouver, experts told USA TODAY.
quote:
Mooney said she was one of 140 women in her dormitory. Many had overstayed visas, often after working in the United States for years and applying to stay but being denied.
Another example in 1st link:
quote:
The Russian native was returning from Paris to Boston Logan International Airport in February, with specimens for her lab's genetics research that customs officers said she failed to properly declare
Another had paperwork issues when entering:
quote:
Subotic said he was trying to enter the United States with a visa and was handcuffed after customs officers identified a paperwork problem. Instead of being refused entry to the United States and put on a flight back home, Subotic said he was taken to a chaotic federal detention center for 24 hours.
Same with the British tourist who was reentering the US with incorrect visa. She had a tourist VISA but wasn’t a tourist and was working for a family in the US.
quote:
Rebecca Burke, 28, a citizen of the United Kingdom is detained by ICE at the Northwest ICE Processing Center related to the violation of the terms and conditions of her admission. All aliens in violation of U.S. immigration law may be subject to arrest, detention and if found removable by final order, removal from the United States regardless of nationality.
2nd link overstayed visa which is a huge issue.
quote:
Irish tourist jailed by Ice for months after overstaying US visit by three days
Also, he was arrested under Biden’s Autopen.
quote:some Dem judge probably slowed down his deportation…
He had planned to return to Ireland in December, but was briefly unable to fly due to a health issue, his medical records show. He was only three days overdue to leave the US when an encounter with police landed him in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) custody.
….Despite immediately agreeing to deportation when he was first arrested, Thomas remained in Ice detention after Donald Trump took office
The 3rd link was about flagged green card holders being detained upon returning from Germany, two people detained entering thru Mexico (possibly trying to stay past visa as well), and another entering the country who had a problem with her passport causing her to be returned.
None of these seem like rounding up tourists walking around a city like New Orleans.

you can be illegally in the US and have permission to work.
You can be let in legally to work legally under a visa, but once your visa runs out or is canceled and is not extended that person is both in the country illegally and working illegally. Both the now illegals and some companies play dumb with this, but working and being in the country is illegal once the visa expires without any kid of extension granted, which Biden’s Autopen was giving out left and right like candy on Halloween to gang members, criminals, and even a future terrorist.
You should have said an illegal could have initially been allowed into the US legally to work legally until visa expired or cancelled which changes nothing to their current illegal problem as they are now illegals for both now regardless of how they entered.

These sweeps have indiscriminately been picking people up, even those working legally.
Nope. Illegal was soon as visa expired or cancelled even if VISA actually acquired legally with their own legal documents at the start of employment.
Of course a lot of fake and stolen documents also used by illegals which aren’t verified by all businesses which gets mixed into the illegals ignoring visa expirations (also these visa expired illegals then become part of the ones using fake documents or stolen ID documents after they were supposed to leave the country).

No, you are not. You are playing word salad trying to wiggle out. If a person is here on a pending asylum claim, or uvisa, temporary protected status or other status. Any of which do not account for the MILLIONS here illegally.
None of listed above are considered illegal. Illegal means you aren’t supposed to be here, you’ve overstayed your visa, or you’re here without the government knowing. You committed a crime and need to be deported. No other country will tolerate this.

You said a lot of partially right things. Work visas and Employment Authorization Documents (work permits) are totally different. The biggest way to get an EAD is through filing for asylum and waiting 180 days. So hypothetical: Juan enters the US by sneaking across the border undetected. He files a form I-589, Application for Asylum, and waits 180 days. He then files for his work permit, and it is given to him with a Social Security Card. By any definition he is illegal, but can now work legally in the United States as long as his application for asylum is pending.

Not saying this doesn’t happen because it totally does, but it’s not the case for a majority of people. A lot more will get ITIN numbers and employers either don’t know their I-9 requirements or just don’t care.

I am not playing word salad. Words have meanings. You clearly know enough based on the things you mentioned to know that a pending asylum is not legal status by any definition of the way that word is used outside maybe some very liberal circles. U visas are still non immigrant visas, so temporary, and TPS is subject to cancellation making a person with it legal one day and illegal the next.
So while I actually applaud your definition of illegal, and optimistically think it’s what a lot of people mean, it’s not what the definition actually means. If a pending asylum was status I would have a lot less detained clients.

They are illegal aliens. They don’t have a right to be here and need to be deported. Once the illegals are gone, Americans can have a fair chance at these jobs.

The problem is not illegal immigrants, stupid. It is the local thugs making
New Orleans one of the most violent cities in the country. Send in the National Guard.
Violent crime in DC was down 80% when the Guard was there.
