When? When the good Muslims stand up.

What the frick does anyone expect having all that going on blocks from the absolute worst shite hole in Baton Rouge and probably Louisiana. Imagine living out of town, sending your daughter to LSU and getting her a place off Highland in the "Student apartments" that are 100 feet from those slums having no earthly idea where she'll be living.

LSU needs to start buying everything up down Highland all the way to downtown and either destroying it and making it a greenspace or continuing to expand. You can't have those 2 cultures adjacent to eachother and not expect this shite.

Lol

LSU needs a massively increased police presence on game day. I'm talking NYPD stop-and-frisk style enforcement.

I see quite a bit of purple and gold in that crowd. Probably quite a few students. LSU’s holistic admissions doing work.

Live in the area.. part of my morning walk.. .. walk about hour a day.. nice to cut through the union in the summer and stop for some ac.. or by the fountain etc.. I find campus landscaping interesting .. a lot of varieties of plants .. lots of interesting architectural features.

It will get worse bc these YNs have no other option.

A heavy police presence that shuts the tom foolery down before it starts would mkae this area also not an option for YNs to do YN things.

I have a huge issue with the thought that there is nothing that can be done about it and it'll get worse. Ban the DJ from the parking lot, fine the business for creating an unsafe environment, and quickly arrest anyone disturbing the peace.

I also can't imagine this crowd is good for the smoke shop anyway. I doubt these kids are buying anything, they are more likely to steal stuff than buy stuff anyway, and they are driving off actual customers.

At this point the powers at be will have to do something. But staffing shortages have been a massive issue.

Reacting to a shooting Saturday night that injured two people on the LSU campus during the South Carolina game, Gov. Jeff Landry has issued an order for state and local law enforcement to increase security on the campus for next Saturday. "I have ordered State Police to work with LSU PD, BRPD, and EBRSO to come up with an enhanced security plan for the upcoming LSU/Texas A&M game," Landry said on social media Monday morning. "We will continue assessing the security to ensure all future games are safe," Landry said. "The level of violence and disruption will not be tolerated."

My personal observation from decades of attending LSU sporting events. In the last 5 or so years, the BR black community has begun to participate in LSU events more than in the past. In the past, it was probably 95% of black attendees to football or basketball games had direct connection to LSU. These days there are many more community members of color who attend who do have direct connection to LSU. That in and of itself is not a bad thing- I would say that in a vacuum it is a very good thing. More community buy in is good for the university as a whole. However, when this spreads to the wannabe “gangstas” who bring their foolishness to campus then it becomes a bad thing.

Note: this isn’t about “black” or “white” people except as far as the videos we’ve seen and the gunshots all seem to involve that group of wannabe gangstas. I will say the same about LP met heads coming to campus and shooting at people when it becomes a reality. It’s about the behaviors, not the people.

At a minimum, an increased law enforcement presence needs to be on the Highland corridor at the North Gates.

Cops are there already. They may be on traffic detail but they are there. I guess they just sit back and watch since they are on detail??

Oh I see. Yeah it’s a beautiful campus to walk. Just wish there was no crime.

Not sure it’s wannabe, there are some real trash there that are truly bad people. The admin better take this seriously or there won’t be lsu game day experiences anymore or a football team. This directly impacts revenue to the school.

I was very proud when I brought my new girlfriend and her daughter to their first LSU game last year. It’s a such a sacred and unique experience and was such a meaningful part of my younger life. I couldn’t wait to share it with them and tell them 100 stories from my past.

This is how I feel with family and friends. I brag about the experience all the time, and if I get one of them to go, they are wowed. Now, I have to issue disclaimers about crowd leaving early and apparently crime.
