Helps in getting first job. After that it is how you work. I was on a medical resident selection committee. Some of our worst residents were from Harvard. So entitled and lazy. No joke.

Why do so many Louisianians have this parochial attitude? Criticisms do not always stem from hate. Many of us who now live away from Louisiana love it since it is where we grew up. Pointing out ways that it could be better is not being hateful.

That's because it's not hard to get through Harvard, only to get into it. They know what their average graduate earns based highly on priority business recruiting, and what that means for their endowment. It's why they are notorious for not holding students to deadlines.

Well there's an oversimplification if I've ever heard one. While it may be true that "getting accepted is the accomplishment," it's not easy to graduate.
Now the level of "don't give a frick," may be higher due to old money, but there are plenty of non-rich, non-legacy Harvard students that work hard to both get in and graduate.

Which is north. West of campus is the river, east is the LSU lakes and Southdowns. South has some dicey areas, but they aren't really close to campus. I don't think it's fair to say LSU is "surrounded by ghetto."

The majority of Harvard students are from non-rich, non-legacy families. Harvard probably has the most generous financial aid program of any university.

I also work with people from UT, A&M, Georgia Tech, etc., and even worked with people from Stanford & MIT in the engineering field. Yeah, you can do it. Doesn't mean those schools aren't better. Also doesn't mean no-one should send their kid to LSU. I graduated in ME from LSU. I don't really want my son to go there though. I mean if that's what happens, then fine. But financially I am in a much better place than my parents. I can afford to send him wherever he wants to go. I hope he gets into top notch schools......Except for A&M (we live in TX). I can live with him being gay, just not flaming.
