I don't get it...what's the issue?

Yea, somewhere around there. You’re acting like I’ve said it’s a terrible city. I visit it more than any other city in the US. If you can’t see any of the negatives, I’m sorry.

If they were locals, I'd take that with a grain of salt.
Hating on NYC is weird for people who love America. NYC, to the rest of the world, is America. it's one of the great cities in the history of humans.
As far as fun, there's something for everyone unless you live to hunt. Even so, just go west to NJ.

However, Rome and Munich are much cleaner than NYC.
not so sure about that

More cities should block off sections of roadways to allow for outdoor seating like that on weekends. Especially when you have a strip with multiple restaurants. Seems great for business.

Ok, he captured 3 minutes of a pleasant block or two of the city. Doesn’t mean it’s not a hectic shite hole overall.
To be fair, very large areas of Manhattan (Lower East Side, Soho, East and West Village etc) and Brooklyn (Fort Greene, Park Slope, Williamsburg etc) which are even more full of greenery look like that video every day.
I've lived in a lot of cities and NYC is the most pleasant and laid back of all of them except San Diego.
Like with any city that has mass tourism, the tourists all do almost the exact same things so all the places they go are the ones people who live here try to avoid -- just like avoiding rush hour commutes improves the quality of life a great deal.
I know it's in vogue to bash NYC for political reasons but the city is pretty damn nice overall and most of the problems are not as in your face the way they are most other big cities.

Most large cities have nice areas and areas which aren't so nice, NYC is no different.
When the wife was working up there, she would often regale me with her "E Train adventures". Homeless people loudly arguing with no one, shitting and pissing themselves, the one who had basically made a home in the back of a car, etc.
I can walk freely around downtown BR any day of the week without worry. If my trek were to take me under the interstate at night though, that can be a different story.

What's the problem other than the graffiti?

Lived in Soho right next to Little Italy for 30+ years. Had a 3,000 ft. loft for $500 per month all of that time. There were hundreds of restaurants within walking distance. Some of them were great.

Friday lunch update, made noon reservations at Keens Steakhouse. Probably going to have the mutton.

I used to see a guy in an Auburn hat all the time when I would visit friends in the East Village. Stopped and talked a few times when wearing my LSU hat and we would always wave at each other since . Used to see him mainly around Ave A or B coming out of Stuyvesant Town. Dude would be in his early 50's/late 40's now. You?

This stereotype is true and also tiring. Had to school a few "Manhattanites" every now and then.
