inequity issues
I immediately stop reading any article when the term inequity surfaces. Inequity is a fact of life that will never change.

Every city has its share of inequity issues.
Such bullshite. There's no inequity issue in crime-ridden shithole parts of cities, nobody is going to invest themselves or risk their business in areas were there are near nightly shootings and random drive-bys. They demand access to retailers yet don't hold themselves accountable for the shoplifting. They demand access to better grocerie stores yet will fill their shopping carts with junk then leave the carts everywhere but a cart corral. Have no respect for themselves nor anything else around them and expect others to pickup the bill.

I love these look at how caring we are surveys done by these groups that don’t even focus on those really in need. At least in these big cities people have resources for help. They should focus on towns like Ferriday, Melville, etc that are stricken with poverty where the people have no way to get help.

inequity
Anyone who uses the word equity where they should be using the word equality has a politically driven agenda. Equity is a communist redistribution principle.

The fact that Brownsville TX is nowhere to be seen on any Most Dangerous Cities list tells you everything you need to know about demographics & culture’s role in a functioning society.

Most people have zero idea what equity even means.

Brownsville isn't particularly dangerous and has a shite ton of law enforcement around. Crime there is lower than the national average across the board

Los Angeles, California
This one surprised me.
Very high COL.
Gulfport is the most surprising one.

Most people choose to live in poverty.
Indirectly. They make really poor life choices that make poverty almost inevitable.

most people make terrible choices in life choosing to live for immediate gratification instead of delayed.
This is true.
But so many people are never in an environment that values better choices. Generational poverty comes from self destructive narratives from the older generation.
For there to be any hope in minimizing generational poverty, we’ve got to figure out how to overcome this negative and futile mindset that dominant voices in these communities love to promote (this obviously included race baiters and race hustlers).

we're not far away from a significant % of the population simply not having the cognitive abilities required to contribute to hold a real job
But they do have the cognitive ability to navigate the welfare system and jailbreak an iphone.

These days, if you can't find a public computer with internet access.........
These days most Americans put an insanely powerful computer with instant access to the Internet in their pocket and call it a phone. I know there's some percentage without access to a smart phone in America but it sure feels lower than ever.

I don’t know about that. There are plenty of blue collar jobs that don’t require advanced training. Lots of clerical jobs for non-degreed women too.

And what do all of those cities have in common?

Let’s not forget what’s been going on since the civil war. Whereas Massachusetts might get hundreds of millions in research money, grants, etc… Louisiana will get that for welfare purposes. Switch it around and our universities and medical and industrial employment would skyrocket and theirs would go in the toilet. It’s all in a matter of where the feds decide to send the money and for what. That’s a fact.

Nearly 37 million Americans live in poverty,
I’m betting the vast majority of those 37 million have smart phones, cable tv, name brand clothes/shoes, and very few bills they actually have to pay.

Such a dumb statement. Most people are born in poverty and have trouble getting out.
