Colley was responding to a post about a back-to-school giveaway, and in a comment to the start time of the event, she wrote, “Im not going at 6:30. Cameron St? That’s [n-word]ville after dark lol.”

She is 64.

So she should know better.

Probably grew up when the PC term was nword or colored.

Nope I'm 59. The N-word was uttered by our grandparents without a second thought but most of our parents did not and we all knew not to do that in public places at the very least.

Just a few years ago the PC term was African American.

Still acceptable, as is black (the term from my youth).

quote:

Now we are back to the PC term being "blacks" or "people of color".

People of color is typically used as an inclusive term for non whites rather than just black folks.

At this rate in a few years the left will have convinced us that nword is now the PC term.

Not gonna happen.

I loathe cancel culture but I don't have any sympathy for this one. I wouldn't want her teaching my kids either.

Yet they would have no problem with those young black teachers who pull up to Circle K with rap music replete with the same word blaring repeatedly along with misogynistic and cop hating lyrics. Right? Sick of their fricking hypocrisy.

Come on now. What this lady said is not the same thing as rap music. Use a little bit more critical thinking. She was being racist. Don't try and defend her.

I've got to think that millions of white people use this word or some code form of it every day.
Not that I agree with that.

Being from St Bernard I have heard the ninth ward referred to as that many many times. N.O. East too.

Still, very stupid of her.

Not at all. Ignore it. She didn't say it in a classroom or at school, and until she does nothing should be done about it, even if it's her favorite word.

People get offended over the dumbest shite.

If you are racist and are stupid enough to post on any kind of social media, you deserve whatever you get.

Except this isn’t the “singing along with a rap tune” use of this word. This is the direct use of it in a racist manner, publicly, by someone in education. It’s an entirely different issue than the hypocritical enforcement of the “ taboo”nature of that word that appears in rap or with friends ripping on each other in good nature.

bullshite!!! Cardi B. and the dozens of other hip hop “artists” use the N- word for a very specific purpose and know exactly whom that term is directed at. And your right it’s not like singing along with a rap tune, it was INTENTIONALLY used in a hip hop lyric. Either the irony is completely lost to them or it’s like water off a duck’s back to them. You can’t have your cake and eat it to. In this case yes, this lady was totally in the wrong, but the hypocrisy in today’s society shouldn’t be brushed under the rug either.
