Its a word for God sakes, she's stupid for not knowing what would happen but she probably is fed up with the hypocritical world we live in. Where only white people can be racist. If the word was so bad for blacks then nobody would ever say it in their communities. But they blast it every where you see blacks. You can't go to a local gas station without hearing it blasting from the speakers. People are tired of the bullshite and she probably said screw it im going to say what I want. Call me a honkey, cracker,whitey. It doesn't effect me you know why because I don't care what other people think about me. Its a word it doesn't define you. If its a really hurtful word for blacks then NOBODY should say it.
