Who remembers the Arctic outbreak of December 1983? Temps stayed below freezing for 120+ hours but very little precipitation.

IIRC we got just enough freezing rain to put the hurt on the woods around here. All you could hear outside was the sound of limbs snapping and hitting the ground for hours on end.

No way we can totally waste away a 19 page thread on 65 degrees and some showers.

Remember it well. I lived north of Longview, TX and it extended our winter break by a full week. The FM roads and oil tops all over simply couldn't get thawed and remained iced in. We all had dirt bikes, 3 wheelers and go carts in the neighborhood. It was daylight to dark mayhem. I was 12. We rode everywhere in town even to Walmart and such to get groceries for people.

All is remember in 1983 is a little sleet, maybe a dusting of snow. The ground froze solid for a week.

In January 1982 there was a very bad ice storm in NW LA. We lost power for about a week.

From the Shreveport NWS for next week:

Wednesday Night
A chance of rain, freezing rain, and sleet. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Thursday
A chance of rain, freezing rain, and sleet. Cloudy, with a high near 43. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Thursday Night
A chance of snow, freezing rain, and sleet. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Friday
A slight chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

They’re predicting some frozen precipitation but not the sub-freezing daytime highs the models are showing. Made my grocery run today, just need to fill a couple of gas cans. (We actually lost power for about 24 hours in the snow last month and had to fire up the generator.) If this forecast pans out, trying to stock up next week will be a zoo.

That may have been what I was referring to.
It was crazy to hear limbs crashing every few minutes every time you ventured outside.

Highs in the low to mid 90s with a chance of a stray severe thunderstorm or two. Tornadoes and large hail possible.

Experienced that a few years ago in Atlanta burbs after a somewhat u expected amount of fat, heavy, wet snow. Stand outside and hear a pop every few seconds. I damn near got hit by a huge falling one branch.
