Lake Charles meteorologists are the masters of deescalating weather models. They do this year round until a category 4 hurricane is barreling straight up their arse and they take off last minute

it’s like they get satisfaction raining on people parade

Holy crap lol. Valentine's in Kansas City and St. Louis will be colder than any reading in Canada on that map. From Vancouver to the far north Hudson Bay or Nova Scotia.
Brutal.

I just think they have a legitimate hate for bootleg Facebook weather pages. Most of those are run by people that have no idea what they’re talking about and just in it to try to stir up likes and hysteria.

Also, they hate that TV is dying and digital is where it's at. It's harder for them to be different and break out on the internet, and they've dreamt their while lives of being on TV.

So winter apocalyptic weather is cancelled for South Louisiana?

The GFS, and Canadian still show cold for us but no moisture. Highs in the low to mid 30s instead of the bitter cold it was showing before. The EURO thinks the cold doesn’t come anywhere close to us now.
One of them is going to be very, very wrong.

Yeah I was wondering if yesterday's Euro was an anomaly, but now this next run really kills the cold.

That is also why some of them get all hyped up and start be melodramatic.
They are seeking attention to themselves and the playful corny jokes to the News Anchor only gets you so far.
Also, you have TV software vendors that put too much stock in their sales pitch that weather drives viewers for station managers to buy the most expensive elaborate setup. Plus hiring an over paid meteorologist, station managers try to put emphasis on weather to find a way to get their investments back.
All the while, at home or internet wannabes get the same information for nearly free and don’t have to wait for 5, 6, and 10 to tell you the weather.

Winter Weather: On [Off]

You still can’t say that with a lot of confidence yet. The Canadian and gfs still have us getting quite cold. The Canadian gives us ice but on Monday/Tuesday instead.
It’s the EURO that’s now dead set on warm weather. It runs again in a couple hours and we’ll see if it sticks to its guns or caves to the GFS/Canadian.

While this is true, the number of people who still cannot come within 50 miles of picking out their home on a map still greatly outnumber the people who know what RadarScope is. I'm not being dramatic about that either. There were surveys and questionnaires and whatnot that set out to determine how people understand maps and weather. It was not an encouraging outcome. Those are the people who, if they even know severe weather is possible, need broadcast meteorologists more than anyone.

This is the biggest issue they have out of all that crap you posted. They’re no longer the gatekeepers of that information and they don’t like that amateurs can get all they need from a different source.
