The ole lady wants me build a fence around the backyard next weekend. I need this to be the winter storm freezing snow maker that the models say it’s going to be.

The Canadian model has a major cold bias for surface temps. With that said, the 500mb pattern that run shows is pretty crazy and would generate legit cold. Chance of verifying? Probably zero
Don't kill our fun with logic.

They were showing the low for my area to be 19 around noon yesterday. It's now almost at 30 lol

18z GFS keeps the freezing temps and precip in Northern Arkansas and into the Midwest. 3rd run in a row trending away from winter precip for the deep south.

I think certainly it looks to be trending towards sleet and ice over snow, which is a worst case scenario below I-20.

What temps are showing? Is there something keeping the cold weather north?

I just need the wind chill in Dallas to be below 34° at noon next Sunday so something is cancelled. Holding out hope.

For who? Not south Louisiana, which is all we care about.

Here is noon Sunday.

Thanks. Hopefully, the Dallas winds are here. That would do the trick for me.

Hope the warming trend continues, supposed to be heading to NC Sat.

Still a good way out but looking like the models gave us a good tease but are trending warmer and drier.

Maybe LaToya did me a favor by cancelling my Endymion parade. I won't have to freeze my butt off on the float. I really would have been pissed had next Saturday been a beautiful day.

All you wishers for bitter cold may still have hope. Zack Fradella is saying over on stormcast forums that he still believes the models aren’t handling the strength of the polar vortex very well. He thinks it’s going to be dense enough to make it down here.
As always, some will be right and some will be wrong.

Who remembers the Arctic outbreak of December 1983? Temps stayed below freezing for 120+ hours but very little precipitation. The Red River and area lakes froze solid. I remember seeing people riding 3-wheelers on Lake Bistineau and daytime highs barely reaching 10 degrees. Seems like every pipe in North LA froze and busted. There were no widespread power outages. Pics in link.
