You know what’s the hardest thing about not living in Louisiana?
Having to tell your parents you’re gay

Rich people, I get it. However consumption based taxes don’t discriminate based on income. It’s a far more “fair” tax than income in my opinion.

Probably also feels higher because of a higher starting point for the product. Either locally made or shipped in - going to be a premium on it.

Vote NO to Amendment 2 on March 29 and we can change that

Guys, we have a Republican governor and a Republican state legislature with the backdrop of MAGA with control over three branches of federal government. The good times have to be coming, right?

Sales taxes
We have reasonable (for now) property taxes and income taxes were recently lowered.

We have a higher tax burden than you'd think given our shitty public output, but our income and property taxes are reasonable compared to others.
I don’t know the best way to do this, but it seems like an analysis like this should take into account all the taxes one would pay living in the state, not just sales tax.
Especially since they are averaging municipal/county/state sales taxes.

If you add other areas sky high property taxes and income taxes, you will realize Louisiana is not that bad when it comes to taxes.
It’s actually horrible per capita and for what’s being provided, but frick it, you got andouille sausage.
And it’s incredibly unfriendly to business and getting worse with the tax swap to a sales tax last year. The state will continue to get worse, but again, congrats on your food and having a “fair” tax that keeps business out and people poor

Misleading. We have rather low property taxes so all in we are middle of road
Now we are not getting middle of road results

That's sakes tax -- not tax burden.
Other states get their taxes in thier fashions.

On the flip side

The Pelican State also has the fifth-lowest property tax rate in the U.S. at 0.55%.
Homeowners in Louisiana pay $1,087 annually in median real estate taxes, which is nearly $2,000 lower than the median real estate taxes paid nationwide.

Your title is misleading.
States also have property and income tax.
Louisiana isnt the best states for taxes, but far from the worst. This is 2022, Since then our sales tax did go up, but income tax came down.

It’s not though. Louisiana is MUCH closer to New York, California, or New Jersey than Texas or Florida

2024/2025 rankings are out, moron. And Louisiana ranks 40th. Real shitty. And you want to use retarded logic and say Louisiana changed their taxes to say it would make their rankings better while putting no thought that the 49 other states could do the same thing.
Truly retarded

Cites an old source for evidence of his opinion, then calls the same exact source with the updating rankings bullshite and false.
You’re on of the dumber posters on this site consistently, quite a feat
