And lots of people have HTN and don't know it. My husband is normal weight for height and is NEVER sick; don't know the last time he had been to the doctor prior to a knee injury in December (he should have been having annual checks but well, he didn't).
Anyway, in preop and in recovery for his acl/mcl repair, his bp was HIGH. And I was super worried but not a soul mentioned it to us. I finally got him to go to the doctor once he was mobile -- doc said "dude, you need meds now" .. bp has been good since.
He kept saying "but I don't feel bad" and I kept replying with "that's why HTN is called the Silent Killer".
This whole covid thing should be making people aware of their health and do something about the things that aren't good about it.

No, it means the majority of deaths (old people) have not been obese.
I bet if you broke it out by ages, those under 65 that have died would make that obesity percentage higher.

Makes sense is the majority of deaths are 65+ though. They may not be obese but still have cardiovascular disease, diabetes, HBP, etc. just by nature of their age, genetics, or earlier life choices.

It appears that 82% of the dead weren't obese and since LA is 40% obese it seems to be a protective factor.
