News for all of you. It’s not bad to have less population. Also, there are 2 kinds of welfare. DC decides where they send welfare for poor people and where to send government contracts, R&D money, etc etc. if you swapped the type of welfare Louisiana gets and the type Massachusetts gets, the education of population would change. TWO TYPES of welfare !!!

This guy gets it. College educated love big government because they know where their "research contracts" come from.

If rural land in Louisiana gets cheap as hell, I MAY consider sticking around for retirement.

Doesn’t seem like it in Jefferson Parish. People are everywhere and Mexico is building all over.

Pretty much a blue state

Really? Republican super majorities in both houses of the legislature and all statewide elected officials are republicans. Is that the new blue?

I have family in Ohio so I've been there plenty of times. I'll take Louisiana and all its issues and problems over Ohio all day every day.

Texas and Florida housing market must be on fire. 400k of people in a year is a lot

Many coastal areas have basically doubled since covid and thats even in the face of insane insurance increases and 2-3x interest rates.

Central Ohio...Columbus...Ohio State!!! The jobs being created in Central Ohio are incredible. Columbus was the fastest growing city in America in 2023 i believe. Again...jobs jobs jobs. The amount of money being poured into the region is just getting started. I don't think people are aware of how many big name Fortune 500 companies are located in Columbus/Central Ohio. Ohio State is a behemoth and the jobs it is creating is second to none. Plus, Columbus isn't your typical Rust Belt looking city. Lots of great areas in Central Ohio.

I left and have no regrets

Because you literally have nothing to regret. Your life almost certainly got better as soon as you left Louisiana and set up shop wherever you moved. Ive lived all over and there are very very few places that wouldnt be an upgrade to any city in Louisiana.

I love Louisiana, love it but it is run by a bunch of morons from the State level down to your local governments.

Dont believe me, walk outside, drive your city, check out your education numbers and crime rates. All shite.

If it is low income people leaving for better opportunity that would be a good thing... but, i feel like it's not.

Here for a daughter and an elderly father. After that, I'm out (again). I really need to be around peaceful, relaxed earthy people who do instead of talk, so that probably means cashing out and moving to a foreign country. CR, Thailand, Ecuador Panama, Uruguay, Wicklow County, Poland, etc. I just can't stand the constant alarmist cultural chatter. Better it be in another language, so I don't understand it. I loved that about the time I've lived or traveled abroad-I can check out and just enjoy what is in front of me. I've heard enough. Nothing but yapping here.
