45k new tests? Sheesh who is running this place?

3% positive rate?

11 deaths a day. Hospitalizations flat.

According to the chart the governor released yesterday we are only averaging 15 new hospitalizations per day state wide. No reason to not move to phase 3. There are probably more than 15 hospitalizations statewide for staph infections.

How do they say they have -119 cases? How are number of cases negative? If someone gets better are they considered -1 case?

They said that we had -119 after they removed the ~1600 cases that were duplicates or people from out of state.

The kicker is even if it was ~1600 new cases it was the result from ~45000 tests.

Just another anecdotal story: My daughter was contacted from her employer yesterday that a coworker was positive. College age person. This girl had been in contact with a positive person so she got tested but had zero symptoms. Test came back positive so she notified her employer. Her parents and her boyfriend all were negative as well AS was everyone from the office.

A lot of this going on here in Alabama. A bunch of asymptomatic or lightly symptomatic young people who are testing positive. These cases have always been around. They are just now being caught by testing.

I'm just going to continue with the rolling averages as posted since I haven't changed the data in the past when there's been "dump days" from old batches, either...

They didn’t report yesterday because they were doing some kind of audit of the reported information.

The state is compiling data from dozens of sources, some of which report regularly and some which do not. Every so often they do some kind of verification check, like yesterday. They also let us know when some lab dumps results they should have previously reported.

None of this means there is some kind of ridiculous secret conspiracy. It just means that trying to issue daily reports isn’t always a neat process.

Today’s numbers continue the positive numbers of the last six weeks.

It just points to the incompetence of our State Government. It isn't difficult to update the data based on testing date and then reflect the changes in Tableau.

We had 760 positives on Thursday and 787 today. However, they removed 1,666 from the total thus the total decreasing by 119.

Updating Tableau with the underling excel file is a no brainer.

The state probably uses Lotus123 with WYSIWYG and it’s really really probably way harder.

The doctor was an older probably retired doing a part time gig. He told me that he didn’t know what employers were going to do — keep sending for tests? They can’t handle anymore in a day than they’re seeing.

He also said that they can’t close the country down again — it’s not worth it. I completely agree with him.

Ole Miss had 126 positives that weren’t reported as Mississippi positives so Oxford didn’t know about these — they were counted for their state of residence.

Wordnis a frat party happened — I don’t care either way. Let these young kids get it. They can’t keep things closed forever — we need to live life.

That said if the bars are open, there’s no reason they shouldn’t be there. They’ll just get together at an apartment anyway. If the place is open and I want to go, I’m going. Maskless. Although sometimes I do feel bad when I see the frail older gentleman doing the shopping in a mask — is he doing the shopping to protect his spouse? Maybe I am unchristian about it.

This is the case for my parents.

I will admit those are the times I feel bad about not wearing one — I steer clear of them and go down a different aisle. And then I see a frail lady without a mask.

Like, I stay confused and conflicted.
