This is the 3rd day in a row I have seen this trend, but I think when they remove duplicate tests they are removing the older #s. When looking at the New Cases by Collection date historical #s. Any adjustments to the #s from late June typically result in a reduction; where as, the #s from July are constantly increasing (so far).
The # of cases from 7/16 - 7/22 as of yesterday (before their afternoon adjustment) was 4,722. The # from 7/15 - 7/22 after today's results is 6,193.
So, of the 2,296 new cases reported today, only 1,471 was from the past 7 days (7/16 - 7/22). No new cases attributed to 7/23 collection date.

Realizing you meant 4 of the 9 needed a vent, how could you possibly know that? How do you know it's not 4 people who have been in the hospital for weeks now that suddenly needed to be on a vent? That's an odd claim to make.

Mixed bag. Lower deaths than we've seen in a week. Hospital numbers still up but by a very small number. Hopefully it will stay below 1600 and start going down. Positive % not bad, but would like to see it below 10 (isn't that one of the benchmarks for going to the next phase?) Not sure what to make of vents.

It's a mixed bag. If someone tests positive on June 15 and July 15 and is not hospitalized, then it gets tricky. If you leave the June 15 and remove the July 15, then they would be presumed to be recovered since they are not hospitalized or dead. But it's also not a new case in July, so the June test should stand and July removed.
