Each day (on average) only 1 in every 195,000 people in Louisiana have died from Covid-19.
Those numbers are MUCH lower if you are young and healthy.
And yes I know people who have died from the virus.
Stay safe but realize that the key is protecting the vulnerable population.

I think putting the death against the entire population sort of diminishes how deadly this actually is.
Like saying cancer isn't a big deal since .08% of Louisiana's population dies, from cancer, in a 6 month period.

You have to compare the toll against the entire population instead of just throwing out a 3500+ number with no frame of reference.
3,500 in Texas is much less significant than 3500 in Louisiana, and 3500 in Montana is much more significant than it is in Louisiana.
Yes. For an older or not-so-healthy person it is deadly. My biggest concern through all of this is my diabetic father that is almost 80.
And yes I understand that Cancer will eventualy kill over 30% of all people.

You also have to take into account how much of the population has been infected as well.
Using your math, total deaths vs the total population, then meningitis ain't that bad

Not an insignificant number, but then you have to look at age and comorbidities also for the real risk to each specific person.
I just cannot stand how the media is cheerleading about the over 100K number without giving a frame of reference. But then again, they would confuse a lot of people if they did.

Didn't want to start a new thread for this, figured the daily COVID thread would be perfect place.
CDC issues new guidelines
They say you are clear after 10 days of isolation. Key factor is fever free for 24 hours. Does the mean the State will need to update their presumed recovered figures? Per cases "New Cases by Collection Date", LA had 12,746 cases within the last 10 days (you would then need to add hospitalizations over 10 days back in).

Eh, probably wouldn't do much good. Active cases is just a proxy for total infections anyway, with total infections being some number we'll probably never know.
