This was always supposed to be about the hospitals so that is what it should only be about.

I remember people vehemently disagreeing with me when this entire lockdown first started, but you’re exactly right. If the hospitals aren’t overwhelmed, steps should be made to open the state up more and more to get the curve over with as quickly as possible.

The don't want you to focus on the wrong (positive) metrics of the day.

What doesn’t make sense. People in bars get close together, inside and won’t wear masks

And that's different than a restaurant how?

Yes, we have learned through this that the right approach overall is “push it” to where hospitals are filling up but not overloaded. Scaling back too much is 100 percent the wrong approach because you will eventually be found when you come out of hiding. That delays the end result even more.

Are those case fatality rates or infection fatality rates?

You should only be with your immediate group. Yes people at restaurants violate that too. Still are limits to how close you are to other strangers.

I asked this question in the thread yesterday and fightin tigers explained it some but it is still off. The first column is from the LDH website for % positive by collection date. The second column is the % positive based off of the daily report given by LDH, which is in the spreadsheet in the OP. The daily report contains tests from a several dates. I get that. But something is off. Does one of these include re-tests that are kicked out and not included in the other? The numbers do not make sense.

I'll ask my question again cuz it looks like people missed it but what happens when we stop wearing masks and then the virus (SHOCK) hasn't gone away and it starts spreading again? Are we going to go back into phases with more restrictions again and then will the mask lovers say we need to wear them forever?

They don’t at all, unless there is massive numbers of negative tests coming from older than a month ago consistently skewing the daily numbers.

Thank you. I didn't think I was crazy. Or stupid.

The numbers don't make sense. The theory makes sense, but when you move from the theory to the actual data, it doesn't add up.

The ideal goal is that enough people are still getting it (such as kids) because everyone won’t follow the rules. Can still get to herd immunity that way. Herd immunity isn’t 70 percent for this like they first thought.

Your question doesn’t have to be limited to masks. It should have been asked about moving into phases. What happens when we are so graciously allowed to enter into phase 2 by our benevolent overlord and cases begin to go up again?

Because of how stupid we are, especially politicians, we will def. keep going back into phases all over the country. And yes, I know there are a lot of people who do think we should have to wear mask until a vaccine comes out.

The bar I frequent had the stools and tables separated so people weren't close together (except for those at a table that came in together). Followed all the guidelines. Now he is shut down again, yet I go to a restaurant and see more huddles of people than he had in his bar. There is no way for you explain that away as fair.
