If we continue to have a daily case increase of 30% and death increase of 29%, like we did today, for another 12-24 days (let's call it 18 days), Louisiana will be at 589,000 cases and 23,400 dead in 18 days.
Do I think this happens? Absolutely not. But I think it is ok to be a little concerned about today's numbers. I don't think that is out of line.

shite my mistake...my wife just corrected me....yes he was allowed
and my FIL said they are taking grandma out the hospital bringing her back to the nursing home today with Hospice. He's hoping they will loosen the restrictions on seeing her because she's at the end of her life.

Louisiana is poor, fat, lazy and has a horrible health care system. Are any of you guys really shocked by any of these numbers?

They won't. They could be bringing it in to other vulnerable people.

You realize that is the entire goal of the shelter in place, social distancing, etc... right? We want this peak to be pushed back and lower b/c that means the cases are being spread out to levels that the medical facilities can manage. Go look at any 'flatten the curve' image.

she's non infected and neither is anyone else.
She could have just as easily bought it into the hospital over the weekend when she went in....and could just as easily be bringing it back to the Nursing Home today when they bring her back...

They've all been tested? They may have picked it up since testing. All homes are on lockdown. I'm not trying to be a dick, but they aren't getting in

Depends on the nursing home. Most are not allowing visitors and some are not allowing hospice staff.

You cant get tested unless you are showing symptoms...no one is showing symptoms. They could easily take their temp just like they do my wife when she enters the physicians center to go to work

Why are you guys surprised by the amount of positive tests? Test results are lagging behind 5-7 days, that's not 1200 new positive tests today that's 1200 new positive tests 5-7 days ago. 5-7 days ago was when tests finally became somewhat available, so this really isn't a surprise at all.
Its really about the amount of new hospitalizations and deaths, and deaths will increase for a couple of more days before we hopefully peak.
