Mother fricker, you have never had to try to hire and run any kind of job with unskilled labor I bet. You could offer $25 an hour and still get the same local lazy entitled dipshits. Depending on which field you are in they could be drunks, methheads, or just typical do nothings.
People don’t understand that there’s a significant population of Americans who either don’t need to work or can’t work.
The immigrant population fills an important role, and it’s not because they get paid less but because based of their situation they can afford to take on jobs that others can’t. I’ve seen Eastern Europeans go from living in a house with 3-4 people to a room to owning houses and being landlords. I’ve seen the transition from barback to police officer over years.
The quickest path to being legal is through marriage. All those Russian girls in south Florida married an American for papers. Lots of them married US military for a few bucks. The going rate right now in the Miami area is about $30k. Once they become legal they marry others for bigger dollar numbers.
Anchor babies got nothing on the marry for papers market.

That’s just wrong. Every H2A worker around here has to go home for atleast 2 months or they aren’t allowed back the next season.
The status for each qualifier is extremely different, but I’ve had lots of workers that have to leave just for 3 days every six months. I worked at a place in Florida that had over 200 employees and only three of us were born in the USA.

Maybe so but don’t assume all H2A workers in Louisiana go to Florida and pick vegetables.

Concerns that not enough available workforce could allow Chinese crawfish to gain a larger market share.
I’d like to see them ship live crawfish from China

I get your satire, but sadly a lot of people think this is true.

So crawfish workers are the most law abiding of the immigrants? All these people who overstay include no crawfish farm employees?

quote:H2A workers that I have known go back to their home country after their season is complete. They aren't immigrants, they are foreign workers, not dreamers that poured across Biden's border. They don't "overstay" because their farming employers provide housing and transportation.

So now we want illegals in the country because they work on our crawfish farms?
Politicians are such hypocrites.

You know what I meant.
All of a sudden we want to make it “legal” for more migrants to come back because we need them to work on crawfish farms, and we’re going to do it by suddenly increasing the number of visas?
