Holy shite...

LA Times

quote:

The nation’s second-largest municipal health system has told its staff that it is essentially abandoning hope of containing the coronavirus outbreak and instructed doctors not to bother testing symptomatic patients if a positive result won’t change how they would be treated.

Or did they just waste all of their tests on celebrities and such?

Because for most people, catching this is a non event.

I mean if it’s not going to change treatment, makes sense to me

Testing is moot. May as well focus on treatment instead

I mean that’s basically how a lot are treating patients under suspicion of it. We’ve released 4 patients without getting a positive test back because it takes 5-8 days. They’ve gone home under quarantine. All have gotten better while in hospital including a few that were taken to icu as a precaution.

That’s kind of an inflammatory headline.

testing was moot once it was clear China lied about the virus

this thing was almost assuredly here sometime in january (if not before). we would need tens of millions of tests to get good data

Until there’s an outright cure, that’s probably not a bad way to go. But I don’t know jack shite about medicine.

So can we open our damned economy back up? If one city isn’t doing it, then the country isn’t doing it. There’s zero point in trying, so can we please let everyone at least have a chance at keeping their jobs and homes and futures and lives??

LaToyota has been following California's lead for every step she has made. Let's see if she follows her Los Angeles roots.

Especially in L.A. since most flights to Asia from the USA are out of LAX and considering the size of the Asian immigrant population there.

Current testing has told us where the hot spots are. That’s decent data.

this is just practicing good medicine. the fact of the matter is that we don't have enough tests to go around so at this point we have to be judicious with who we test.
