I want to get my mom a new car. I have 30k cash, I'm thinking Toyota. Something midsize or maybe Highlander? She's been driving around in the same shitbox for the last 20 years and she is very practical so I can't talk to her about it, she won't let me do it until it shows up in the driveway. Just looking for a couple opinions don't want to buy brand new obviously something around 30,000 miles. Dependable new technology and open to other brands. Thanks in advance for any valuable input

I would consider the Rogue except I'm not a fan of CVT transmissions

NIssan

by comparison, our nissan murano has had to be serviced for a few nagging issues. actually had the 1st one replaced because they couldn't fix an issue with the collision detection sensors.

30k can get a pretty decent used car. If you're willing to spend all that, then it's pretty much wide open for you. Just start looking around.

i wasn't either but we have had a Murano for 4 years and its been flawless.

Highlander is good but my issue with Toyota was lack of options on lower trims. If i wanted certain things i had to buy Platinum. That included a few things i wanted and a bunch of shite i didn't care about.

If she doesn't mind a sedan the new Camry is very nice and well priced. Also the new smaller SUV from Toyota is good The CRT i think?

For any reasonable good deal on a Toyota you need to go one step below ‘mom’ car size. Highlanders are popular with new moms or growing families so they hold their value very well.

I don’t have any recommendations, but I’d consider a used small domestic since it’s just her. Amazing gesture btw

I actually had a Murano and then it flooded out in 2016. I love Nissan's actually, currently own a Armada but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Only reason I have one is because I know how to work on them. I want to get my mom something that is Bulletproof

For 30k, I'd get a low mileage used Lexus, maybe an ES350. And I'd shoot for one the pre-owned certified that'll give her an extended warranty.

$30k will get a used, low-mileage Lexus ES300 - Toyota dependability with a little luxury and prestige for mom.
