This will stir the pot on here, but when I see a man driving a personal truck that is not work related, I see the man making a statement to the outside world:
"I can't afford to pay someone to do it"
I think they are relevant if you have a boat or if you have hobbies that really need a truck. But all too often men have trucks just to have trucks, and I realized that when I worked offshore. Dudes with half the salary I had were parking new(ish) trucks in a gravel lot for six months a year. These dudes were married with kids. Is that a wise decision for your family?
What's worse are the heavily modified trucks that make the thing highly impractical.

Yes especially the huge ones that take up too much space. They make parking very difficult for everyone.

Got an f150 last year. Low trim tremor with cloth seats. 5.0 and love it. Blue cruise is nice for long journeys. I got 9k off and 0 apr due to luck of time I was buying in Nov. Only issue is mirror button was rattling. Pretty sad for that to break.

No, I won't get my money back, but whoever gets this truck will be getting a sweet ride. It's a 2012 Tundra Platinum CrewMax 5.7L V8 4x2 with about 158K miles. Dealership has done all the maintenance.
I had the infamous cam tower oil leak repaired a few years ago. Supposedly there's still a very small seep, but it doesn't leave oil on the ground. More recently I've replaced the alternator, water pump and tensioner pulley.
I also had the hood, roof and front portions repainted because the clear coat/paint was starting to show its age.
Interior is still pretty nice. It has a Kenwood Excelon head unit with CarPlay, all new speakers and an amp professionally installed by AutoModz, plus a combination-lock safe in the center console.
If I weren't upgrading and if my wife would allow, I'd keep it. It's been a damn good truck.

Who would think a box on frame construction would be so complicated that recalls and unreliability are the norm for all manufacturers.

It’s a cultural thing.
Where I live now multi millionaires will drive trucks that never see Home Depot but that they drive to business projects or whatever because there are fewer corporate jobs and more small to midsize businesses driving wealth.
In many other markets business owners and executive types drive Range Rovers if they wanted status or Lexus products if you’re trying to fly under the radar.

I recommend factoring in price, not necessarily what’s most recommended. The Toyota premium is high. Take the probability of a major failure (it’s not as high as the internet says), cost of repair, then compare against whatever premium you are paying for reliability.

I kept my 2016 Tundra when I bought a new F150 recently. I’m saving it to give to my son one day but also I just didn’t want to part with it at the time. But the new truck is so comfortable and nice that I’d sell the tundra now if my son didn’t want it so bad.

You’re very passionate about men driving trucks. It could also be that men simply enjoying driving trucks. Most men have driving plenty other vehicles and simply prefer a truck. It’s not to impress women lol. Women dgaf about trucks.

Have driven GMC for years and have a 2025 now. I am disappointed in the display. Huge screen that looks nice, but very slow and buggy. Radio frequently loses sound when switching between Bluetooth and FM. Also, incredibly slow when using voice controlled to get map directions. Have had to pull over at times waiting on the map. Shouldn't be this buggy for the amount of money they cost. Talked to someone else that is driving a 2026 and having similar issues.
