The other day someone said they have heard of people going 8 years
Yes. I know a civil engineer who took awhile.. I think it was 8 or 9 years. He said when he first started college he was more interested in going out, partying. Let his grades slip. Had to sit out a semester. He started working full time and decided to sit out another semester because he liked the money, but then his parents were on him about going back. He went back.
Long story short, it just took him a little while to get his priorities in order and his shite together. He was in school during every part of those years. But he started college the fall after graduating HS and 8 years later he graduated college.

I took 6 to get mine. It was a dual degree though, with a mix of part/full time. I need 150 credit hours anyway so it worked out well.

My cousin took 12 years and 3 colleges to get his bachelor's in education.
Lost his teaching job in the first year.
Joined the Army and is close to getting full retirement as a Sargent.
Nice, hard working guy who took a while to figure out what suited him.

My friend, Anne, took 7 years to graduate college but she worked full time and had to skip a few semesters.
Took myself 5 1/2 years because I dropped 10 credit hours worth of courses and skipped one spring semester due to lack of funds.

Define "graduate"...like actually take all the classes and finish school or just stop going because I was getting too old to party?

My sister. Graduated HS in 2010 and started college that fall and won’t graduate until next December

I know a guy who was "in school" on and off until he was 30. He never got a real job and that was always his excuse. I'm pretty sure he never graduated and is selling used cars now.
To make it better, he spent most of that time taking classes at MGCCC.

My SIL has been in 6 years for engineering degree at a well known tech school in the Atlanta area. She still has three semesters left. She did have a baby during that time, but also took bare minimum during first two years out of laziness. The baby should have only put her behind 1 year max.

My buddy Van, took him about 7 years. Dude threw some great parties too. Even had an assistant, drove around campus in his own golf cart and started a few side businesses. School paper ended up doing an expose on him.
He is now a famous comedian.

Had a buddy who took 15 years to graduate. He set sail with seven people on what was scheduled to be a three-hour sightseeing tour on a charter boat. They got caught in a storm and ended up stranded on an uncharted tropical island.

For students who are interested in both challenging outdoor experiences and the inner-workings of the human mind and emotions, should consider a degree in Adventure or Wilderness Therapy. Took me 8 years but I was in a 5 year Landscape Architecture curriculum. But I also ran track & CC and didn't matriculate much when I was competing as it would have been impossible to take the required design studios. The studios were from 1pm to 5pm everyday which is when our track workouts took place. There was one guy on the team that tried to do both but he ended up not running much.
