Taking a trip to the beach soon and my son hates to ride in the car for longer than 15 mins, he does not like to be contained. We are thinking of leaving around 11:00 so he can nap for an hour or so in the car, but will have a couple of hours while he is awake. Any advice to keep the little guy from screaming?

We took our first big trip with our two year old to Disney world. We left early in the morning while he was still sleeping and the rest of the way we put on Disney shows for him on an iPad.

Hearing Mickey Mouse Club for a few hours is better than a cranky kid.

Good luck to you.

This... all of this. One perk is having the diapers in excess... I may or may not have used a few to pee in so that we wouldn't have to stop (weird, I know.. but I HATE stopping on trips).

Good luck and God speed!

We recently did the same with a kid the same age. Tried leaving around nap time, tried movies. My wife ended up having to get in the backseat with him.

An iPad mini has been the single best purchase we have made for our son.

Like others have said download some episodes of his favorite show or some movies.

Streaming is also an option.

I must have been lucky.

By the time my daughter was three months old, she went on 3 4+ hour trips in the car (once to htx @ 4.5 hours, two to the hunting camp in scooba @ 5 hours)

Just took her to disney when she turned 2, and that was an 11 hour trip.

Not a single peep.

I put my 1 year old twins on an airplane with my wife & MIL. My FIL and I drove the cars down with supplies. I drove extra slow. Best 10 hours I've had in a long time.

Take him to a park, or bounce house, or anywhere that he can run around and wear out. Stuff is belly (no sugar), strap him in, and roll out and pray.

Works until they are about 6-7.

The screens started working around 3, but they didn't care about them before then.
