The wife (no pics) and I have been talking about possibly moving in the next 3 years if I decide to retire from the military early. One of places we discussed is Fort Worth. She visited there a few weeks ago and loved the area. Has anyone lived there or nearby? Any thoughts or recommendations?

I lived in Acton, just outside Granbury, which is about 30 miles SW of Ft. Worth. This was the late ‘70’s when I was a kid, but I loved it. A ton of gated communities in the area.

I haven’t been there yet. Only been to Austin and El Paso. She wants to go back to Fort Worth again and we talked about going in the next couple of months.

I lived in the Mid Cities area for a while and Sis's family has been in Keller for 20+ years now. She won't go anywhere else it seems.

It's OK if big huge city full of noise and people and noisy people is your thing. I prefer the outdoors and quiet.

I just watched the first few episodes of 1883. No way I'd live in Fort Worth. Hell, people were willing to die by thirst, hunger or Indian arrow to get out of that place.

Went to a concert in Ft Worth a couple years ago. Me and the wife (just dating at the time) stayed at an Air BnB. Wish I remember the neighborhood but I remember it being pretty quiet and seemed like a nice area. It was both of our first times there so we drove around and I remember thinking it was a pretty cool little city.

Wish I had more info than my CSB post but I thought it was a cool city that I could see myself living in. I'm sure like all cities there's good and bad areas.

Look back on the Air BnB app. It’ll be listed.

My daughter (no pics) is a senior at TCU. We absolutely love it. She loves it more than us. Downtown is solid. I would definitely recommend the area around TCU if you can afford it. Great food scene, low crime, and educated people.

only worth it if you can afford to live near the TCU area. most of the city is pretty ghetto/barrio.

I live in Dallas and my parents live in Fort Worth.

Fort Worth kicks arse. I would live there in a heartbeat. Big city with a small town feel. Dallas is a big city with a douchebag feel.

I really like Ft. Worth…it’s a lot more laid back & less pretentious than Dallas. Great amenities & decent restaurants. I cover both in my work territory, I’m beginning to loathe Dallas traffic
