Get it together Entergy Louisiana…

Apparently the rain is making some tree limbs sag and touch their lines, causing a failure.

So I guess they aren’t trimming trees around their lines like they should be.

Ive had two trees fall over the last wo rains. shite happens.

Sometimes people run into the pole, and you lose power.

Where I live they waited til ice storm came thru and power was out for ~24hrs.

After a state of emergency was declared THEN they cut the shite and left it never to return.

They are not responsible for trimming trees on private property. That is the responsibility of the property owner.

Woke up at 3:45 AM yesterday to a transformer going kaboom. Scared the shite out of me.

Entergy had power back on around 5:00 AM, which had to be some kind of record for them.

Only the main lines here are above ground. All the lines going to houses are underground.

95% of outages are caused by tree/vegetation, animals or some dumbass wrecking into a pole.

Back in the day, they would clear limbs around the line all the way up so no branches would be over the lines. Now, they can only clear a 10' ROW around the lines which means you have lines running in the middle of a bunch of branches.

Just wait till that Data Center goes online. You'll be out of power daily.

I had Entergy for years and got used to no rain, no wind, no power.

I have a different supplier of power now, and the difference makes you wonder how Entergy even continues to operate.

And yet in my area, Entergy is trimming trees and it has got everyone in a damn uproar. People insist on planting trees under a power line and then bitch incessantly when they trim.

Just wait ‘til the AI data center takes all the energy from the State of Louisiana. Excuses will flow like the Mississippi but you’ll still be in the dark.

I said it as soon as it happened because the evidence was there for anyone to see in the area that I live in. That summer drought a few years ago caused a massive amount of trees to die, many along roadways and, yes, power lines.

You must live close to someone that dispatches the crews, because that has to be a record.

Partially correct. If they are in the servitude for service up to the transformer, they will cut the trees as to not interfere (maybe not cut it down to the ground like some people want). All you gotta do is call them. After the transformer to your house or to a security light is your responsibility. There is no servitude there.

Technically they have to maintain a servitude or they could lose it (would be very rare) plus the bigger reason is it’s usually cheaper to trim trees than repair damage.

My Dad ran the local power company before Entergy, GSU. In the early 80’s they had rolling blackouts. I told him, if he ever blacked out my subdivision, he wouldn’t be able to see his grandkids. Then he tells me, my subdivision is not on the list.

I bought a new home one time, the phone company said it would be months before I could get a line. Dad called the head of the phone company told him he was fixing to lose power, an when I got a phone line, he’d get his power back. I had a phone line the next morning.

It is actually pretty normal in my area. Granted, i\they aren’t going to climb a pole with lightning popping all around them…I wouldn’t either. However, they always get right to work as soon as the storm has passed. That is one of the few benefits to living in a subdivision.
