Older people shite on kids constantly about how they act, and they don't realize they are creating these helpless idiots.
Kind of like how parents gave out the participation trophies. Then made fun of the kids for getting participation trophies.

Have 4 boys college age to high school. My wife uses this app religiously. They don't pay for their own phone yet so the leverage is easy.
Do I think its over the top - yes.
Is it a hill I want to die on - no.
Would I have been in the s***house non-stop with my parents if they would have had it - absolutely.
My boys are pretty good - no trouble, student athletes and decent grades but my wife has to have it.

I would hope that my kid would have the sense to buy a burner, forward the number, and give the tracked phone to the most boring kid in the class.

Working at a HS, tons of our parents use them. And I always know whenever the app is down/glitchy because parents call freaking out that they’re not showing up. I had one legit call crying thinking her kid got kidnapped when it was just an issue with the app.
I see it’s usefulness if your kid is traveling long distances or out late on the weekend/somewhere you don’t know. But they’ll never become trustworthy if you don’t give them a chance to earn that trust.

Why didn’t they just call their kid instead of you?

Some classes have rules regarding whether they can have their cellphones out or not.

That and life's to short to spend it constantly worrying like that. Whoever that person was has a serious anxiety issue or mental issue and should seek help for it.

We started using 360 when my daughter started driving. What was supposed to be “only for safety” turned into my wife obsessively stalking the app at night while I tried to sleep. Deleted that demon app when she started college. I have 2 younger kids and will not have it installed on their phone. The app caused more harm than good imo. I’m sure it’s been convenient for others for certain situations, but we’ve learned some valuable lessons as parents with my oldest. Letting them fail is vital.....sure, you can give me all kinds of scenarios to why 360 is useful. But as for my family, it’s not needed or wanted any longer.

Every time I hear about what kids today have to deal with, I'm more and more glad I was a kid/teen before the internet and cell phones.

The porn would have been nice, but I generally agree.

That's insane. That kid is going to do so many drugs in college.

My daughter was coming home from work at 10pm on Blackwater Road. It was drizzling and she lost control in a curve, did a 180 & slide sideways into a steep ditch. She called me & was hysterical bc she couldn't open the door & it was pitch black. Jumped in the car & we were able to find her by using Life 360. As we came around a curve my other daughter said this is the curve where she is.

frick this. I don’t need the world or anybody knowing where the frick I am at any given moment. If I want someone to know where I am I’ll tell them.

We got it for our son when he started driving. We don't obsess over it, but there have been a few times when he needed to be picked up or was having car trouble when it really came in handy, not to mention finding lost cell phones
