Roommate of mine’s mom had it secretly on his phone and called him one morning asking how Tigerland was. Didn’t have the app an hour later

My SIL has it for their family circus. She also installed it on her husband's phone. Yep.

So the kids are harmed by something they don't know about? Is this like fatness being Trumps fault?

I'll one up most here. I'm 38 and have it on my phone for my wife and parents. Son is not old enough for a phone yet. I hunt a lot of remote locations with terrible cell service and the whole family does a lot of traveling. For us it isn't a trust thing it is a useful safety thing. A couple of years ago my wife totaled her car and was shaken enough she couldn't give me good directions. It helped me find her and my kids. Since then I'm a huge advocate.

You missed my post after that one. I am in my mid 40s, my kids are teenagers.

I also have a dog that walks the neighborhood and other places with me, he does not need to be on a leash. Never runs away, never chases a car, etc. He wasn't always that way. In fact when he was young, at the house, he didn't even like a leash. He would pull and pull, wouldn't come when called and couldn't be trusted to be left alone for a second. As his parent, I taught him what he could and could not get away with and how to act properly. I gave him more and more freedom to make his own choices. Sometimes it was a struggle because he would F up but he would suffer the consequences. The bigger the F up the bigger the consequences. Eventually he learned what was expected of him, and how to act like a productive member of our household and society. He slowly but steadily learned my trust and I his. Before he was a year old, I was able to let him follow me around on my walks and in the yard without any fear that he was going to do what he was not supposed to.

I was his teacher and his leader, and just like dogs children need a teacher and a leader to follow.

My neighbors have asked several times how I got that giant dog to behave so well, bc they can't trust theirs to not pull them down the street on a leash much less roam around the yard unattended. I can only tell them that it takes time, patience, leadership, education and mutually earned trust.

I have also told some of them, it might be too late for their dogs. They have grown up their while lives tethered to a leash never having to make their own choices or mistakes, or learn the consequences of such.
That has to be a pretty miserable existence for a dog, much less a child.

Mine is 5 and we let him walk outside and across the street by himself. He’s gonna be tough as nails and all of y’all kids are going to hate him

This thread is terrifying.

Older people shite on kids constantly about how they act, and they don't realize they are creating these helpless idiots.

Wife has it for our 13yr old son. Our town is quite small and he’s on foot a good bit. It’s crazy accurate. It’s good when he travels for football too, we can see who they’re heading back. She tried to install it on my phone and I said no. I’m not suspicious of her and I don’t want to be.

When he rides with me she knows our top speed and all sorts of crap.

Never heard of it, and will likely never use it or even read about what it is. Yes I have children, 16 and 10.
