I hate it. My face bloats up huge and my skin reacts like a beehive whenever i shave.
I try to keep 1-2 weeks growth when possible because that looks best.
I don't know what to do differently. Even when I'm clean shaven and bare as I can make myself and I still look like I have unshaven parts.

I have shaving windows. I know when my beard looks good and when it doesn't. I'll generally grow a month to two month beard a few times a year but I look best with a 5 day growth so I try to keep to that for major events. I have a major event coming up and I shaved multiple times in two days and I look like I got in a bee fighting contest my face is so bloated

Go see a dermatologist

Stop using shaving cream. If you want to be clean shaven, trim your beard down with an electric trimmer and use warm water and a safety razor for a clean cut.

Gillette sensitive skin shaving cream and sharp razor. Gillette turbo Mach III. Stay away from electric razors.

A couple days after Christmas last year, MsAntiquetiger went to Walmart and found five Schick Hydro 5 gift sets on sale for $3 each (handle, 3 blades, & cream in each).
I had never used this razor but once I used it, I was sold. When I shave with other blades, I can hear it, like running your fingers over a 5 o'clock shadow.
The Schick Hydro makes no sound and feels like I'm shaving a balloon, zero resistance. After about the 15th use, it starts to make the crackling sound.

I had same problem. Now I use an electric trimmer called a Peanut (awesome trimmer) then come back with a MACH 3. Problem solved.

I love putting on aftershave so much that I shave when I don’t need to.

Maybe you have an allergy to an ingredient in your shave cream?
I have pretty sensitive skin. Here's what worked for me:
All of these super expensive blades with 3, 4, 5 or more blades tear my face up. I switched to a double edge single blade safety razor about 5 years ago and it was the best thing I've ever done as far as shaving goes. Also, a high quality shave soap is key. When you shave, especially around the neck, most guys have a tendency to pull the skin taught to get a closer shave, but that's not always a good idea. You end up cutting the hair below the surface of the skin causing ingrown hairs and irritation. Shave with the grain and across it, but never against it. I also use some Dr. Thayer's witch hazel after shaving instead of a post-shave product -- the fragrance in most irritates my skin.

What a bunch of wusses. I slap on some Barbasol cream and hit them whiskers with a Gillette Good News disposable razor everyday and never look back.

Spend some money on good stuff... make a run to NOLA and go into the Aiden Gil. Talk to those guys and they should be able to help you out.
It’s a little pricey, but I generally only buy product around once a year. I use their shave oil, a badger brush and cream... then throw on some after shave. With a good razor.
I use the Geo F. Trumpers brand right now and have used St James of London as well. My neck used to get wore out when I shaved.... haven’t in years since I’ve made the switch.
You can always go to the art of shaving in BR, but you are limited to only their line. Personally, I prefer the products Aiden Gill carries. Also, they have colognes there that you aren’t going to find most “normal” places. Again, expensive.... but well worth it.
You can also hit Art of Shaving in

Some have different hair & skin that doesn't do well with simple soap and slash techniques.

Aveeno Shaving Gel Baw
But a double edge razor with a quality blade and some good shaving soap or cream is the correct answer.

I was using Dial last week. I went to the Dollar General this week and bought 4 cans and 40 bars of Dial.

I started using Cremo and liked it. Then I had a flight coming up and wanted to take my toiletries in a carry-on, which limited my liquids to 3.5 oz each.
Found Pacific Shaving Company Caffeinated Shaving Cream at Target. It is 3.5 oz and advertises that it is TSA compliant.
Turned out to be a great product and is all I use now. A little dab provides a smooth shave. One small tube lasts several weeks.
I have seen it for sale only at Target and on Amazon.

Didn't mean to imply Dial is for everyone.

Same here. The only trick was a barber in the Marines told me was to rinse the blade with cold water.
Barbasol
Gillette disposable
Cold water blade rinse
