Stop using shaving cream. If you want to be clean shaven, trim your beard down with an electric trimmer and use warm water and a safety razor for a clean cut.
Dude...no.
I'm early 30s with absolutely no wrinkles and perfect skin.
I wash my face with shampoo when I'm cleaning my hair, and I shave my neck and line up my beard 3x a week.
Either use good shaving cream, or in a pinch... The women's silk coconut shaving cream is cheap as hell and awesome.
If I'm being honest, I may remember to put bulldog brand lotion below my eyes maybe once a month. But I have to look like shite to remember.

This.
Somebody hit me with duck dynasty though. Not that long, but that gray. Clippers were employed that night.

I use cold creek water and a very sharp Bowie knife.

I have to shave with the grain. If I go against I too breakout bad. I has also found cheap razors work best for me for some reason.

Get Harry’s razors and gel. Walmart and Target carry them now. Face-friendly. Oh and take your time in the actual shave process. You might be rushing and that never helps the old facial epidermis.

I don't know what to do differently.
Try a different razor, even a safety razor if you have to.
Try new cream- head to the mall in BR and go to Art of Shaving and nab their little starter kit if you like seeing before trying.
I used to shave in the shower with those cheap BIC 2-blade razord with no cream. Perhaps that may work.
Just try stuff out or be thankful that beards are "in."

I find this works well for those hard to reach areas

Find a trimming set with guards that will help you keep it at what works. I've done this for yrs as I would shave every day if I didnt. I can trim every 3-4 days sometimes once a week and it's not to bad. I have a thick full beard in a month though.
I use one lower guard on my mustache and most of my face. I use the guard right above on my chin area to add a bit of contrast. A guard maybe 2 higher on my side burns area.
Best you can do man. Practice and stick to it. Just hope your trimmer doesnt go bad, and then cant find the same one as you go thru it again to find the guards that work just right.
Best of luck

Wash your face with an exfoliating scrub
Unscented Pre Shave Oil
Mitchell’s Wool Fat Shaving Cream
Badger Brush
Double Edge Razor (start with Shark Platinum untill you get your technique right then switch to Feathers)
Two pass shave.. with the grain to take down most of your beard, then across the grain to finish.
Proper technique is light pressure and short “ticks” vs long strokes.... like a barber with a straight razor. Razor burn comes from friction built up with long strokes and heavy pressure.

Negative. They are a rip off and will try to sell you on crap you don’t need. If you go for a DE shave, go to Maggards.com and get a starter kit, Tryablade.com and get a variety pack to figure out which blade suits you then you can buy a pack of 50-100 for pennies compared to cartridges.
80% of the shave is technique so map your face and use little to no pressure. Cross grain can suffice over against the grain for a lot of people. Prepping the face with a hot shower or warm wet towel will help. During the shave, cold water can actually help prevent irritation. Get a steripen for when you slip up in technique and get a weeper.
Some soap/aftershave brands that put out amazing products are Barrister and Mann, Wholly Kaw, Tallow and Steel, Noble Otter (out of Houston), Stirling (out of Arkansas), and Oleo Soapworks.

I specified at the end that was if you wanted to try before you buy and put your hands on it.
I think Taylor of Old Bond Street is the best value for cream.
Muhle's synthetic silvertip fibre is my favorite knot for a brush.
Merkur 32c/34hd or a Parker/muhle r89 are reasonable razors that for most needs at good prices.

Have heard good things on both of those razors. A lot of synthetic knots are just as good as badgers nowadays. Right now I am digging the wee scot badger from Simpson. It is an impressive little brush and perfect for travel

That is a nice little guy.
I wanted a brush with a metal handle to match my razor. I went with the Muhle m89 silvertip. It wasn't cheap, but they put that same knot in several cheaper brushes.
Problem: I wound up switching razors to a Merkur Futur (hate the cap, love the aggressiveness of the razor. It's got MORE blade gap than the infamous r41 by Muhle (which I also have)). it isn't for everyone and is a little pricey for a first-time buyer. Collectors and real hardcore folks also don't like how it's a pot metal razor for what it costs when you can get an old adjustable Gillette for the same price or less.

Semogue 620, right now. I have a nice enough badger brush, but I can't seem to put the 620 away and use the softer badger.
RazoRock makes a nice cream, I get my best shaves with it, the San Marco, I believe it is. I would hope OP can find something that agrees with his skin.
