They have been utilizing the rugged AK-47 as their weapon of choice which works well in a dusty goat crap environment and is known for reliability with minimal upkeep.

Watching these Taliban walking around with M4’s with Trijicon sights does make me jealous, but how quickly will these become dropped because of the lack of upkeep? The black hawks and other nice equipment will also go through this short lived phase.

Any chance in hell they teach their soldiers how to field strip and care for these arms?

Why don't you send Hibatullah Akhundzada an email with your concerns instead of posting them on the OT.

They can’t teach them to properly wipe their asses. No chance in hell they will be able to maintain such equipment. If they were smart, they would sell to Iran.

fricking Biden, wants to ban semiautomatic AR15s for law-abiding Americans, but has no problem giving away fully auto M4s to our sworn enemies.

This might be the biggest myth in the history of firearms. I figured it would've been squashed by now but it keeps persisting.

Depends on how many Afghan troops that were trained by us are forced to "train" Taliban soldiers IMO.

I mean, it not hard to field strip and clean an M4.

As far as the helos and complex equipment goes, that's a different story. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to field strip an M4.

If they don't, you can bet within five years the US will offer its services for upkeep.

Also it is hilarious how ubiquitous the SOF-look is. Everyone wants that SOF drip.

This really isn't the Taliban of 20 years ago in this regard. They've been fairly well trained in Pakistan. They also are likely fortified by more than just a few ANA soldiers that the US spent 20 years and billions of dollars arming and training. They will also be given logistical support by Pakistan and china all the while those two countries smile in our faces and say they are doing all they can to keep the Taliban on the straight and narrow.

Everybody wants to be an operator until it's time to operate.

We're already being softened up for the news that we're sending the taliban billions of dollars in cash for "aid"

Not really. The M4/AR platform is as reliable as the AK and even more so in some circumstances

The first step is going to be to actually unfreeze the money that belongs to the Afghans. There's no way to really do that, though, without officially recognizing the legitimacy of their rule.

The sad part is that there are a shite ton of innocent people caught in the middle that are going to suffer.

That's a good quote that I'm going to use on my next surgery rot.

If my look wasn't retired beach soccer player I'd go for the SOF look. Any time I see a dude with a long beard, I think Wahhabi or SOF operator depending on skin color. The Talibs had half the look down with the beards. Just needed to trade Pakhols for helmets.

I knew it was going to happen for sure as soon as Lindsey Graham started repeating propaganda from the Pakistani ambassador.

We've been training guys in that region on NATO shite for 40 years. Doubt they'll keep Blackhawks flying but field stripping and maintaining an M4 isn't very difficult. You can teach it in an afternoon.

I'm curious what the avg lifespan for a Taliban rifle is? I'm sure there's plenty of guys that take care of their shite, but I'm also sure there are plenty that do not. Some of them carry some bootlegged gear, I gotta imagine some of them go through an AK a month.
