Let’s do a not so deep dive on NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick

quote:
Kirkpatrick is from Memphis, Tennessee, where she graduated in 1977 from Hutchison School and earned a master's degree in counseling psychology from the University of Memphis; she later studied at Seattle University School of Law.
quote:
Kirkpatrick began her career in law enforcement with the Memphis Police Department, and in Washington State was a police officer in Redmond and then a college instructor in criminal justice. She later served as Chief of Police for five years each in Ellensburg, Federal Way, and finally Spokane, from which position she retired in 2012 to become a leadership instructor for the FBI. She was also Chief Deputy of the King County Sheriff's Office for two years.[1][2] In 2016 she was one of three finalists to become Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department; Mayor Rahm Emanuel subsequently appointed her Chief of the department's Bureau of Professional Standards.
That bold part is key.
quote:
On January 4, 2017, after six months in Chicago, Kirkpatrick was appointed by Mayor Libby Schaaf of Oakland, California, as the city's first female Chief of Police.[1][2][3] She was sworn in on February 27, 2017.[4] On November 6, 2017, the chair of Oakland's privacy advisory commission, Brian Hofer, and seven others filed a complaint with Oakland's Citizens Police Review Board claiming that Kirkpatrick had made false statements about an August raid in West Oakland.[5]
On February 20, 2020, the Oakland Police Commission voted unanimously to fire Kirkpatrick with Schaaf joining in the decision as required by the law for a police chief to be fired without cause,[6] saying that the commission's trust in Kirkpatrick was "irrevocably broken".
She of course sued them and the jury only partially ruled in her favor.
quote:
Kirkpatrick was appointed interim superintendent of the New Orleans Police Department by Mayor LaToya Cantrell in September 2023, and after confirmation by the city council[10][11] was sworn in as Superintendent in November 2023.[12] In August 2024, she struck two pedestrians with her car while on duty.
Does anybody think that this woman has the safety of those in New Orleans at the forefront of her mind?
This incident frankly ought to get her and destroya (among all the other criminal shite she’s involved in) canned but we know that won’t happen.

What’s your point? Or are you just being your typical contrarian piece of shite self, Lester?

What could Kirkpatrick have done to prevent this?

We already knew she was an idiot.
Oakland is a shithole, and if you get fired there you must be awful.
Perfect hire for NOLA...

I’ve heard she’s actually doing a decent job. The extra support from Jeff & the LSP helps for sure.

She’s been a better and seemingly more effective NOPD head than anyone else in recent history. Considering the circumstances she inherited she’s done a good job

Nothing, and crime has gone down in the city since she’s been superintendent. This thread is fricking retarded.
Also, she lives in the French Quarter and two drunk idiots walked in front of her car without looking.

This. She’s stemmed attrition, prioritized proactive policing, got NOPD closer to consent decree compliance, and worked effectively with LSP. Not to mention 2024 saw the lowest crime figures since 2019.

She has been doing a good job down here. I can't think of anyone else who could do a better job.

Honestly make a bigger deal about the bollards being removed and/or station cars to block where the bollards should have been?

Memphis. Seattle, Chicago, Oakland, NOLa.
Seeing a pattern here.

Women shouldn’t be police officers, much less in charge the department of a major city.

Look at this fig just downvoting when he did exactly what I stated in the other thread.
I’ve eaten meals smarter than you. That includes both animal and vegetable.
