What exactly is there to argue about?

I pulled up to zipper merge with a younger female driver once, traffic backed up for miles in both lanes.
Was a nice day and we both had our windows down. When she kept riding inches from the bumper in front of her so as to not let me in, I turned to her and asked why she was so determined not to let me merge.
She replied: “um, you have a yield sign” in that I’m about to need to speak to the manager voice. I was so awestruck by the stupidity and entitlement I couldn’t even respond. Not that it would have done much good if I had.
You can tell a lot about a person by the way they drive. When I see red flags I tend to interpret them as a warning.

When there's a line of stopped traffic and you pull up literally to the front of the line expecting to be let in, that's not a zipper merge, that's a frick you merge.

He's right while also sounding like a massive Kevin.

Ziper merging only flows correctly if there's no further impediment ahead, like a red light.
It works on the highway for accidents, etc.

People on the road in real life do not zipper merge or really even think about it that way. It's more like your line at the register suddenly closed. You have to get in the back of the other line. Maybe you can cut by someone being nice or you being an a-hole. But that's pretty much it.

Key differences. We had the pcola and pace bridge go one lane, it was pretty well known and also good practice to get over prior to the end of the lane closer, somewhere where the cars are starting to form the end of the line. It didnt speed things up whatsoever for people to use a zipper practice, in fact, a line of cars not waiting to let people in moves faster and gets more cars through. Lots of trucks would pull halfway into the lane to block dipshits who skipped everyone who got there first and is waiting their turn.
Alternatively, there's a 2 lane turn right after that bridge onto woodbine and that's a zipper merge built into the traffic. That light is never long enough for everyone in the left lane to make it, so they need to be using the right lane then merge in. They build the merge lane long so that more cars can make it through using both lanes then merge after the turn. Ive seen idiots get pissy with right laners before not realizing utilizing it gets everyone through the light vs some left lanes waiting for a second light.

I vote no. I want everybody waiting patiently in one line while I do what ole boy did.

When on vacation out west this summer, they have signs saying to stay in your lane and merge when you get to the lane closure. It works if you merge into the one lane ahead of the closure, it also works if you hold your lane and zipper merge at the end. It’s the numbskulls that can’t figure out which method we are using and run up to cut the line that are infuriating.

The zipper merge is the best way, but it's not compatible with modern human sociology.

I would let him in cause I’m not a dick trying to cause an accident, but that’s not how a zipper merge works, and I wouldn’t expect someone else to let me in if I did that.
Shite I’ve had cars speed up not to let me in doing an actual zipper merge. Not everyone understands “you go, I go, you go”.
And a large segment probably can’t see ahead or judge distance, so they really have no idea when to start getting over. Majority of society in general has zero spatial awareness.

That's fine but if I'm next in line you're gonna sit there a while. Maybe somebody behind me will let you slide in.

It’s not a zipper if every imbecile lines up for half a mile.

I zipper merge because I'm not retarded. Retards sit in a half mile long line of traffic because of some idea of fairness. Enjoy traffic, I guess
