Which is now conveniently before the vote for St. George. It's almost like BR politicians wanted the Governor to delay the vote so that they could try to sneak in some new law to change the voting rules..... No wait, that's exactly what is happening here.

This is where I get exceptionally pissed off.
The state should have absolutely no role in determining whether a group of people should form a city. The entire concept that people outside the proposed city lines would get to vote on this is 100 percent misguided and an affront to democracy.
But... if you are going to pass such a stupid law, you need to make it applicable to the entire state.
To single out one parish and have it only apply to them... that is just beyond disgusting. Politicians usually attempt to pretend to be fair and to cloak their stunts. She's not even trying to hide how she feels and the type of person she is.

There is only a "significant impact" to the entire parish because of the stupid-arse consolidated government system, which allows tax money raised in St. George to be spent only for the residents of the city of Baton Rouge. If the politicians in EBR were even the slightest bit not-corrupted, the amount of tax revenue the parish would lose because of this, would equal the amount of services it would no longer have to provide.

They can, and often do, implement earlier. Example is the various changes to state sales tax rates, which often kick-in July 1st.
What would be a very interesting case, would be if law was written to retroactively apply to a certain date. That would certainly be challenged, which could lead a court to decide to delay the vote until they can sort it out, which would absolutely be a victory for the haters.

Scumbag legislators all over the state will sell their vote to the democrats on this one. It doesn’t affect their voters directly and they’ll use this sellout to get votes from the black caucus and race-baiting dems for their own sleazy legislation later. That’s in the handbook for how to legislate in Louisiana.

I don't think the numbers back up your claim. "People like you" along with "People in St. George" aren't enough to elect a mayor. And, then you have people who "aren't like you" who will vote in their specific best interest even if they support the concept.
