Is there any other option than eating a banana? I'm trying to eat low carb.

Take a magnesium pill every night before bed. No more night cramps.

Being woke up with them makes you think you have been shot. It's pretty awful.
Yes, they suck which is why I now take magnesium.

Avocado, salmon, clams, sweet and white potatoes (I know you said low carb but they have quite a bit), tomato sauce, etc.

For relief once you have cramps take a table spoon of yellow mustard. The relief is almost immediate. Don't ask me how it works but it does.

Pickle juice.
I was incredulous when I first heard of this. I thought it was a silly old wives tale. Then a very bright friend in whom I trust told me it helps her with her thigh cramps at night.
Well, one night I tried it. And damn if it didn't start killing the cramp in 60 seconds or so. For a couple of years now, my wife and I keep a container of pickle juice just for that purpose, and it works. It's not a magic cure, but as a guy that's suffered from nighttime thigh cramps since I was a teenager, I can tell you that it significantly shortens the ordeal.

Water
It really is amazing how drinking a lot of water consistently can fix shite. Especially with joint issues and losing weight.

Hydration is key.
I would suggest getting a box of Liquid IV. Just add it to a bottle of water and it will deliver the same amount of hydration and electrolytes as a full sized pedialyte.
2 of those will help overcome a hangover with a quickness as well!

Drink more water so you don't have them as often. Pickle juice for when you do have an episode. It's fricking gross, but it works for sure.

Don't wear thong flip flops. They always made my feet cramp and occasionally a leg cramp. It comes from clawing your toes all the time. Drink less caffeine

I take a potassium/magnesium combo supplement and it helps a lot.

When I had the last one a month ago, I actually passed out from the pain and fell and hit my head. Then woke up in pain.

I shouldn't laugh.

I hiked down the Tanner Trail in the Grand Canyon. It really tests your legs. That night I got a calve cramp that was the worst pain I ever experienced. Thank God my brother was there to help. It felt let someone was ripping my calve muscle out of my leg.
The last time I went I took two of these before bed and no cramps.

Quit drinking alcohol and smoking so much weed. We both know that'll never happen so just hydrate and keep the pickle juice handy.

Potassium and/or magnesium don't always work for nocturnal leg cramps. I use Hylands Leg Cramps tablets. Two under my tongue before bedtime and I'm good to go.

Magnesium. Either in pill form or the soaks you buy at the store.
