Nothing will ever beat the escape / car floating away in Mexico beach

That warning seems irrelevant

Stout- that is the worst reasonable outcome. I suspect it is possible but if they put likelihood it would be less than 20%

Maybe for insurance purposes, a tornado warning prior to a hurricane landfall and the inevitable storm surge may help the homeowners in their upcoming battle with the insurance companies.

Did I mention this was the 00z GFS from 120 hours ago?
I will still point out that at one point the GFS didn't even pick Laura up even when it had the low positioned south of the FL peninsula.
It all shook out, though

Stout, don't pay attention to that shite. That is a very very rough estimate and with the direction of the wind, the lake will not be flooding that away. Like I said you danger is the canal and they drained that mother fricker today completely.

The GFS nailed the location portion of the forecast.
To get the GFS down to 960 or so 5 days out is pretty indicative of what it thought could happen, but yes, it was underestimating it on the operational run.

Anybody got a good rundown to tide/river gauges to watch for surge?
NOAA Calcasieu Pass Tide Gage
Or
NOAA Coastal Inundation Dashboard
