That's kind of shitty that they won't let you continue east if you're trying to bail. Lafayette to the basin bridge isn't flooding.

49 to 190 is inconvenient but not an unreasonable alternative I suppose.

All these stories are making me want to go back to the Katrina mega thread that was posted last year or the year before. Just unreal stuff. Is there a movie about Katrina?

If you can find that let me know. I started it and I have not seen that thread in ages. That was a rough night...

I'm not as familiar with LA, but looking at surge map, how can anyone in Cameron survive?
They told them all day to get out because survival was not possible.

Seems like the silly Covid restrictions would be thrown out the window. I'd think that danger of imminent death takes precedence over feel bad for a couple of weeks.

I don't mean to be crass, but I'm always surprised there isn't more loss of life in these things. I just don't know how someone can make it out alive with the surge. Prayers for everyone.

Not to be a braggart or anything, but people from SLA are hard people. Our ancestors were hard people living in what most thought was uninhabitable areas.

You throw on top of that a living creature’s will to live and that’s how the death toll is always lower than what is stated beforehand

That’s terrible. A virus that is survived by 99% is controlling how many people can stay in a shelter for a fricking CAT 4 Hurricane. More will die from the hurricane tonight that fricking covid.

Temperature drops and wind shifts in August, feels kinda nice outside... people who lived in the area knew that meant bad news.

Nah. Hurricanes are special that they give many hours of notice and several hours of high wind would tell any fool to go inside.
