I think tiger91 said she was staying in one of these locations. Let me check back. I think it was Abbeville.

Jourdan River in Kiln.

My dad used to ride jet skis back there. I first went a few months before Katrina. When we went back the next summer it was unrecognizable.

Did the track shift a little west? I thought it was coming on a little more where it would be a little more in La. not so close to the border of the two states.

Don't think so. They've had it pretty much right at the border for some time now.

Just saw a radar indicated 217 mph offshore. Don’t know if real it not but that’s what it says

My parents live on Jourdan River in Kiln. They are 7 miles up river from the Bay and still had 26 ft. of water. My dad was in the middle of finishing his new home at the time, and he built it 23 ft. above the normal river level - the highest house in his area. Still got water. That storm surge was unreal.

It is absolutely unreal how high camps are built in this area since then. Living area 4 stories in the air.

All these stories are making me want to go back to the Katrina mega thread that was posted last year or the year before. Just unreal stuff. Is there a movie about Katrina?

To be honest, it was at least 5 years before I could watch anything weather related, including TWC. It wasn’t until the 10th anniversary I talked about it. Something about those 5 days he was missing, my younger siblings and mom evacuating to our house (we’d only been married 1 year and my sister turned 13 the day the levees broke, other 2 were at LSU), me becoming the matriarch of the family bc my mom couldn’t deal... I just locked it away and didn’t look back.

I still haven’t watched anything Katrina related. My stepdad and I have had a few beers over the years talking about how it all went down. He couldn’t talk to any of them about it bc they were dealing with their own Katrina shite. Guess I was in the same place so we had each other.

I heroically called Rutherford Beach as the first eyewall interaction about 12 hours ago. We'll see how it shakes out.

Anyone check out the remote camera from Cameron lately? I’m actually surprised there isn’t more water than that on the road.
