Would it help folks by telling them a percentage forecast.
Say 50% chance of a cat 2, 25% of s 3 and etc.? At least people would know several days ahead of time if the storm could hit major. The way they forecasted Laura did not serve the public’s best interest IMHO.
This is a discussion that's been going on within the NWS and NHC and I certainly agree this would be a better way to go.

Turns out I have weathernation too so I am watching it, doesn’t seem nearly as bad
Thank you!!! We are in the same boat and I didn’t know about Weathernation- I was wondering if we’d get coverage from anything besides local news.

We're going to get hit harder in Lafayette than what they're predicting. It's no longer going west.

Do they have generators?
I’m sure, but not gonna matter at a certain point. It’s looking like the entire city is going to be destroyed.

I doubt I’ll be sleeping much tonight in Avoyelles. I guess we’ll just have to see how the night goes.

At what point does it not matter how strong it is anymore and you start pulling for it to get as strong as possible just to see what nature can really do?
When it's in the middle of the Atlantic?

I mean I’m assuming but Katrina proved that having them doesn’t mean they’ll work.
Especially if they're on the ground level.

Bettes said the eye wall is 9 miles tall. This is insane.

I’m just gonna continue sharing incredible #Laura velocities in this thread. Now up to 173mph in the NE quad
That’s insane.

Lots of discussions about lots of potential changes to the warning system have been going on in NWS. I guess they've taken the Social Science to heart. Simpler is better, though.

saw people posting in that group i linked earlier saying they were staying in lower Carlyss. i mean what the frick?
I know a guy, his wife and kid that stayed for Rita in Carlyss. He said it was the most terrified he’s ever been and was on his knees praying all night. WTF???

Im not saying its not 173mph but Super Reflectivity is velocity in relation to fixed station, not storm relative. Take out its 15mph movement and its in that 150mph wheel house.
Yes, but winds are measured in relation to the ground, not relative to the storm.

Yeah I worded that poorly. That’s probably the correct answer

Did you have to relocate your residents?

Moss Bluff is north. Most will be fine.
Evacuated last night. Clusterfrick.
