Some fool for fox 8 is at the casino in LC. Did his employer make his stay there? I imagine he has a family too. Idk if any story is worth your life.

KLFY has someone over there as well. I mean, just about every media outlet is going to have someone there to report on the situation.

At some point it’d be more informative to hear that there ISN’T a tornado warning in your area.

I’m just gonna continue sharing incredible #Laura velocities in this thread. Now up to 173mph in the NE quad.

My sister is working at Memorial. We convinced my mom to GTFO and go to Lafayette.

This is just a nagging feeling of helplessness watching here in Houston. I can do nothing and it sucks.

My wife works at Memorial. Someone told her they’re expecting 6’ of water inside. Yes, 6’.

Yea, that is what my sister said. She is freaking out about their house now.

This is just a horrible situation all around.

Amos holy shite. My brother is there.

Do they have generators? I mean I’m assuming but Katrina proved that having them doesn’t mean they’ll work.

It's not going east. Y'all can stop that nonsense.

It is absolutely going due north for the last hour though:

The HWRF has been throwing out Cat 4s with pressures in the 930s for days. Euro by yesterday was running 930s out too.

The NHC is typically conservative on their strength forecast because if they're low, everyone gets all upset about busts. The discussions mentioned the potential for rapid strengthening and being a solid major hurricane.

I know we've been discussing the major hurricane potential for days now.

Duke, many of us saw the ominous forecasts, but most folks don’t dig into these things like you and others here.

It seems the NHC takes the intensity forecast from four or five models, sort of averages those out, and puts out their forecast. That can be really tricky.

Would it help folks by telling them a percentage forecast.
Say 50% chance of a cat 2, 25% of s 3 and etc.? At least people would know several days ahead of time if the storm could hit major. The way they forecasted Laura did not serve the public’s best interest IMHO.

At what point does it not matter how strong it is anymore and you start pulling for it to get as strong as possible just to see what nature can really do?

Im not saying its not 173mph but Super Reflectivity is velocity in relation to fixed station, not storm relative. Take out its 15mph movement and its in that 150mph wheel house.
